CornFed
89 Jeep Comanche Sport Truck SWB It's got the 2.5l in it paired to the 4 speed 2 wheel driver tranny. Don't know the rear gear ratio. It was as simple as they came off the factory floor. Not an extra thing on it from the factory. No fog lights, no 4wd, not even any ac, nothing interesting. Only thing extra it has is power steering. It's Jeeps go to Tan from back then inside and out. It's got the bench seat with the shifter indent in it. Manual windows and door locks with only the one mirror as the Sport trucks were done. I'm the 4th owner of it. It was bought new by my grandfather's father in law. The FIL sold it to his daughter at some point. My dad bought it off of her say roughly 18 years ago. He wrecked it and parked it in a field about 18 years ago. He wasnt at fault, he hadn't had a year at that point. It sat in a field for about 13 years. When he pulled it out and put it in our work barn for 3 years slowly fixing it partially. He gave it to me after we had it running. I've had it about 2 and a half years now. I've done some minor mechanical work to it. Everything I've done has been just to do it. It would run fine when I got it. I've got a build thread on it so I'll link that here https://comancheclub.com/topic/67743-cornfeds-89-comanche/
89 MJ
If it’s a 4cyl 4 speed, it should have come with 3.55 gears. Does it have power steering? I know that was an option on these trucks, believe it or not.

I believe in some years, even the passenger side mirror was optional too, but someone else would have to confirm that.

Where can I find out what all those codes mean off to the side?
jdog
The 4 digit codes? If so those are Chrysler codes and will only mean something in chrysler computers

Pete M
huh, generally those are 3 digit code and correspond to the explanation beside it. I guess i never even noticed that jdog's printout had different codes. @eaglescout526 's printouts have the old 3 digit codes.
eaglescout526
Yeah, I remember somewhere seeing in one of the many literatures I have access to to have the four digit codes and I think thats what Chrysler always used until they bought AMC and saw they were using three digit codes for their builds. they probably came up with a way to combine them but my build sheet and his build sheet come out pretty similar with a few exceptions that differ like the engine and trans. fiatslug87
I think for a lot of the codes Chrysler just added an "S" after the AMC three digit codes.
