Hello Everyone. I just finished this install. I ended up using Harbor Freight’s Threaded Insert Riveter Kit with 1-4-20 Stainless Cap Head Fasteners. I had to drill out the mounting holes in the light to accept the 1/4-20 fasteners. I fashioned a gasket out of two pieces of red colored rubber sheets that are located in Lowes Plumbing department.

how on earth is it that I can't find a 3rd-brake/cargo-light unit that's flush mount?  everything that I find has depth and requires cutting a giant hole.  :fistshake2:  and things that are flush only do brakes or cargo.

and yes, I'm sure it's because they are simply replicating factory units (where the trucks already have the hole).  I'm just frustrated that more people aren't looking to custom wire their trucks to justify the aftermarket getting off their butts and making the thing I want.  :laugh:

@C1111toro, looking at doing this install. How much room is there for a connector (Weather Pack) behind the hole that needs to be drilled to allow the wires from that cargo light? My truck doesn't have them already run, so I have to run my own.

@acfortier

There is a void behind were I drilled that is basically a tube. I had to drill through the opposite side of the tube to get the wire into the cab. I will upload a photo from inside the cab coming up.

Ah, got it. And the wire that you run, did you run it above the headliner over to one of the B pillars? How much space is there between the headliner and the roof? Just trying to understand if I can put a Weather Pack connector in between the light and the wires that I'm going to run to the switch.

The pink wire in the photo is from the Factory Cargo light harness that is located behind the driver side b piller. I ran it between the headliner and the roof.
