wesmiller Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 I went and looked at a 1990 Comanche, and I'm planning on buying it, the only part that woried me is that when you turn the key only about 2 of the dash lights on the box to the left of the speedo, gas gauge etc., Come on, and not the check engine light. Is it supposed to turn on like a normal car when you turn the key?

watchamakalit Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 It doesnt have a check engine light as stated before. The seatbelt and brake light should be all that light up. Any warning lights on when running? If not and it seems to run decent and the price is right I would buy it. Any problem you are likely to have with these trucks is something already dealt with and most likely solved by someone else already. If it has a wiring issue it can be found and repaired. don't be scared if the truck needs a little love and care. They are actually very simple overall and easy to maintain and repair. And there is plenty of help available from some of the best right here on the club.

You seem pretty knowledgeable on the Comanche, there's also something I was a little worried about what it could be, it's an automatic if it helps at all, but when I press the gas it sounds fine but when I take my foot off, it makes a low rumbling, kinda like when you hit a rumble strip, I saw that an exhaust hanger in the rear was off the rubber hanger, I thought it might be the muffler hitting the heat sheild but I wasn't exactly sure. I have a video if that'd help at all
watchamakalit Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 don't take me as one of the pros. Lol. I know enough to be dangerous. This forum is the wealth of knowledge that keeps my truck rolling. If not for the rest of the members and their assistance my truck would probably have gotten sold years ago. The rumble sounds like it could be alot of things. Does it do it sitting if you rev the motor? Or just when driving down the road.
