Malibu Manche
It's been a minute but it's time for a update!!! 12/13/2023 @ 189,729 miles: Head gasket & ARP head studs & brown dog motor mounts & Duralast water pump & Gates 195 thermostat & Dorman exhaust manifold & a coolant flush. 12/28/2023 @ 189,740 miles: After the head gasket, it was time to fix the Peugeot slave cylinder leak by swapping my rolled 97 XJ drivetrain HP D30, AX-15 & NP231. Swap went great. The D30 from my XJ was internally rebuild with a Aussie lunchbox locker. Everything bolted right up and went smoothly. Swap related parts (all new) - Crown Clutch Kit & Master Clutch Cylinder (master is now leaking since 7/24 from boot), Advance Adapters Braided Clutch Line & Slave Cylinder, and a Crown CJ Pilot Bushing J3213751. Maintenance & Upgrades (while I'm there) - Rusty's Braided Brake Lines, Madhornets Fuel Sending Unit (don't get it, too big and does not fit), Amazon knock-off metal T-Case linkage, and Stinkyfab Trans Mount. 1/5/24: My first wheeling trip with Malibu! I trailered her to Barnwell Mountain over in Gilmer, TX. She wasn't quite ready for the 3 hour drive due to death wobble :/ typical XJ stuff. Wheeled her pretty hard for my first trip with her. Completed the whole rock garden and got stuck once on a muddy slopped crawl over a ledge. I just didn't have enough traction in the rain and needed real mud tires. I dented up my drivers rocker and cab corner from that obstacle. I de-beaded my drivers front tire on the same obstacle :/ She did great tho! The 3.07 gears really suck. Who would've though? 1/14/2024 @ 189,870 miles: I completed a front clip swap from my rolled XJ and a white XJ from the jy. Also got a Smittybuilt front bumper & replaced my front upper control arm bushings. 3/23/2024 @ 190,442 miles: I installed Boxy Jeep Rear Speaker Mounts, Rear 6.5" 165AC Focal Coaxial Speakers, RetroSound Grand Prix DIN Radio (Motor 2B), and a NickinTimes REM!!!! Very happy with the REM, it has more features then I will ever know what to do with! The RetroSound Radio is great and looks very OEM+. I did have to trim my bezel to make it fit around the volume and tune switches. I also don't like the low RMS of the head unit, so a Amp is on the list. At this point I only had rear speakers connected. here are some pictures of my MJ hauling things. I have also swapped some 22 JL Rubi wheels and some 245/70R17 (30.6x9.6R17) Toyo Open Country A/T III's. These wheels and tires were on my XJ and are MUCH newer and in better condition than the Linglong 33's that were on the truck when I picked it up. 5/6/2024 @ 191,484 miles: I've replaced my ball joints with OEM Spicer ones and Cavfab HD Trackbar and Steering. Also installed Fox 2.0 Performance Series w/ CD Reservoir Shocks. Love the quality of all these parts. Sneak peak of further mods in the steering pic ;) 5/11/24 Went wheeling a second time to Marble Falls, at Hidden Valley OHV. My 3.07's were really annoying me and were a absolute pain on the rocks. I'd love to re-gear but it's just so expensive for just the parts and very labor intensive. On my last obstacle there was a 1 foot ledge that I tried to crawl over but blew my sidewall on my drivers front tire. Need to re-gear before next trip.... I found some JT stock wheels and tires on FB marketplace and picked them up to put on Malibu to drive back to Dallas. It was Sunday so I couldn't find a tire shop. On the way home my truck developed a really bad DW at 45 mph. I tried to baby her home but I had a horrible wobble that blew my drivers U-Joint. Trailered her the rest of the way and installed a new RockAuto ULTRA-POWER 630427 axle shaft. 8/19/2024 @ 193,082 miles: I installed Barns4wd 3-Link Long Arms & Rusty's 6.5in Coil Springs & Fox Steering Stabilizer with some 33's again. Long Arm install took a couple of days and I painted them white, the spray can said grey and I wanted a destroyer grey. The white looks really off :/ Ignore the oil lol, it's from my rear main seal. I have also installed some 97 fire red XJ front doors and wired up the windows. Sad news got in a accident with a new BMW 8 series. 9/21/2024 @ 193,669 miles: Soon after I installed a new header. Here are pics of the damage and new header replacement & Jeep Cables Headlight Harness. Both the radiator and condenser are smashed pretty hard. Condenser leaks but the radiator doesn't. I've left the drivers fender on since I've ran out of fire red 97+ fenders. Have still been looking for a dentless fender. Headlight harness is great and super good quality. I'll replace the radiator and condenser another day. 9/30/2024 @ 193,849 miles: got some brand new 24 JL Rubi wheels & tires 33's BF Goodrich. I also installed my camper shell temporarily for fun :) 12/4/2024 @ 195,092 miles: Time to tackle the rear main seal leak! I got a Mopar 4778126AB rear main seal and fel-pro gasket, also got a Taboo Customs Oil pan Skid plate and Spectra Premium CRP06A Oil Pan. Old oil pan was super rusty so I just got a new on and the skid plate for extra protection. I also did the rear main seal twice because the first time I put the seal in too dry. Second time was the charm, I used silicone spray lube and she worked perfectly. Old seal was extremely brittle and hard, it was definitely factory. Rear bearing has some great wear for 195k miles! still has another 200k to go at least. I did a little Christmas time photo shoot. You can also see my new custom embroidered plate! Reads Mali8u for Malibu (the name of the truck obv). 1/11/2025 @ 195,707 miles: Time for some more maintenance, she deserves it ig. My truck has started a intake leak at the manifold gasket. I put new gaskets on when I did the head gasket but the gasket was not metal reinforced. It lasted around 5300 miles. Got some K Suspension 12 port Injectors, Fel-pro exhaust manifold gasket, Boxy Jeep EGR Delete, and the Boostwerks Engineering Titanium Exhaust/Intake manifold studs (very unnecessary lol). I have also replaced both rear wheel cylinders since they both have started leaking. Replaced with Dorman wheel cylinders. Job was pretty straight forward and took me around 5 hours to do. It runs slightly better with the 12 port Injectors and the loud screech is gone! 1/17/2025 @ 195,751 miles: Upgrades people, Upgrades! I got a Ares Fab Stealth Modular Winch Stinger Bumper with a badlands 12k synthetic winch. The wings are detachable so I have them off for now. It looks really aggressive and I love it. Plans are to install 8in light bars inside the wings. 2/1/2025 @ 196,056 miles: My steering column has been loose, classic GM loose bolts. My ignition switch has also been acting up a lot so it's time to replace her. I found a fully rebuilt unit on Ebay by cali.steering.rebuilds. It's tan because I plan to swap my whole interior to tan. Install took 2ish hours. Pretty straight forward. 2/8/25 I bought back my first MJ! Using it for parts, plan to do a bed swap and eventually cab corner swap due to rust. Title is still in my name! 2/14/2025 @ 196,346 miles: I've had a massive PS leak. My HP line crimp fitting at the pump is leaking a lot and it's time to replace the line. My crank sensor has been burning on my exhaust manifold and is not routed correctly. I've tapped the whole new harness. I got a Crown CKPS and Crown HP Line. The picture is of the old CKPS. 3/7/2025 @ 196,802 Time for that bed swap. Took 5 hours with 2 extra set of hands. Now I have my original bed-lined bed back on my truck! In the second picture you can see my custom shock mount made by my friend. It adds a LOT of rigidity to the rear of my truck. 3/15/2025 @ 196,948 miles: Malibu shredded her belt . A while back my adjustment retainer for my belt broke off so I have just been adjusting it with a pry bar. I believe the belt was out of alignment, causing the belt to shred. I had a nice Continental belt on it and I've since replaced it with a temporary Duralast belt to see if it shreds again. so far it's been around 1k miles but it hasn't shredded again. I also sent my front driveshaft off to a local shop to get re-lengthen and thicker and rebuilt all worn components. It's a very heavy duty shaft. 5/11/2025 We are now all caught up :) I have a lot of plans for my truck and I just need money to make it happen lol. Times are tough right now but I love her. Next mods will be new IAC and and HO valve cover swap.

Interesting, I assume you are talking about the rear shocks I would assume the front is pretty similar.
