Yikes, I got that same link from All Things Comanche. Rugged Ridge, sure are proud of their products, thats a chunk of change, for something as straight forward, as gas strut lifts!

In my mind I would like to pair the above with THIS hoodpin kit. Any time I need to open the hood, just press two buttons simultaneously and bam!, the hood lifts itself.

Pretty Schweet!

I recently saw someone that did this, think it was on a FB group, and they listed the parts from Amazon. @$40 total for 2 struts and 4 mounts

.......haven't ordered mine yet, but I plan to soon!

Just go to the junkyard and get a lift gate strut off an XJ, go to the auto parts store and get a ball stud, bolt it in.  It's about the cheapest route you can go.  Could also do two struts which would make you less likely to bend the hood when closing it.

I hate junk yards. They have snakes, bees, mice, poison ivy/oak. Plus not worth, fighting with rust and corrosion twice. Once off junk car and once off of my MJ.

I buy new when I can.

And I intend to install a pair.

I just used these parts (well quite similar, used 100lb struts and 90 degree ball studs) turned out really well and holds my hood higher than the stick. Got pretty close to my washer fluid reservoir could have put it a little farther out. 20210603_200208.jpg.a3bb5bfb6fa7ddb9edcea59a60606fc0.jpg20210603_200223.jpg.7df1106ff2f74fe5944bc365344bc4d4.jpg20210603_200214.jpg.0c21aa85ec0b6671eba3a9f5a908c624.jpg
