89 MJ
I think we should try to come up with some of the differences that the different Comanche models had over the years. I will edit this post as we come up with more differences and trim levels. Custom: Base for 86 X: XLS: Base: bare bones Sportruck: base with stripes, SWB Pioneer: Chief: SWB Eliminator: Bucket seats, body color grill and flares, 10 hole wheels, SWB Laredo: LWB, body side moldings Metric Ton: D44 rear, trans cooler, 5 leaf springs per spring pack, LWB
Jesse J
metric ton has the five pack leafs. and I'm pretty sure the "custom" trim level was in the earlier years the same as the base. (i could be wrong)

Pete M
custom is more or less a fancy term for base, even though you could get a base that wasn't a "custom". 86 was a weird year. the other day I relearned that the 86 Cherokee was a little ahead in trim levels, namely the Pioneer. eaglescout526
Cherokee had more trim levels in its starting year than the MJ did. Hell Cherokee had a Chief model in 84'. But for whatever reason AMC did the MJ different for trims in its first year. Its honestly hard to say what trim has what distinguishing features as someone couldve gone and ordered a say Pioneer and decked it out as much as a Chief was. Its almost more of "which stripe kit do you want for your truck?"
BeatCJ
So I could add Sportruck graphics to mine, and not be faking it too much? I noticed on my build sheet it lists no stripes, like it was a choice.

ghetdjc320
From what I’ve gathered about the eliminator, they had more insulation on the firewall and originally were only 2wd. It wasn’t until 90 I believe when they had a 4wd option. Not sure why but our club seems to have nearly all 91 eliminators ever made.
