Matt S
Hey I just found this website while looking for information about commaches because I was thinking of buying one. This seems like an amazing community and the amount of information on this website is insane. I'm thinking of buying a 1987 commanche with a "new 94 HO motor" someone please educate me on what type of motor that is (He says it's a 4.0L). Guy says it has a BA10 in it right now but also has a AX15 and everything for the swap. Other things to mention: it's a manual 4x4, has procomp rims and tires (33x12.5x15), it also has new speakers and sub, new carpet and rino lined floor board. Guys asking $3,000 for it, am I getting a good deal? I'll update as I learn more. Attached some pics of it as well
Matt S
It comes with a camper shell... unknown condition as of so far
Pete M
it's common to swap in a newer block because they are far more plentiful. be sure to pull up the carpets to check for moisture. and welcome to the addiction
ghetdjc320
Looks like a nice little project truck. Looks like someone has done a 97+ front clip. Has a sliding rear window which a nice option. Other than that, the speaker mounting in the b panels is sloppy as is the fender trimming. As Pete mentioned, pull the carpet to check for rust. 75sv1
Looks clean from the pics, but not parts swapped and not fully finished. Check for rust everywhere. Also, the BA might not survive with that size of tire. I'd ask if it has been re-geared. If not, a set of axles from an automatic MJ would work. The front from and XJ. What lift? The front fenders would be $50-120 each to replace. Get a pic of the engine bay. I'd say fair deal, and possibly good deal if rust free. I'd value a rust free MJ frame at $2,000. Also, it depends on what you want this for. If a DD, then those tires will mess with your MPG. Also, then the steering needs beefed up. Yes, $$$. My gut says it needs $2000 more put into it. Take a pic if the steering links, and the underside.

fiatslug87
Welcome. If you swap to the AX-15 make sure he really has "everything". There are many threads on here with what is needed.

Keep looking. There were some ??? on it. Surface rust doesn't scare me. A few heavy spot, neither. Also, post your location. It might help others to point to viable MJs in your area.
