IIRC, I pulled this from a full size Chevy van.  The lug socket end is to large for a XJ/MJ lug nut.  I wonder if you could cut that off, and weld on a standard XJ/MJ lug nut (not the stainless steel capped variety) and make a suitable replacement for the early MJ part?  Shaft is a 5/8" hex

the width of the spoon on the end is what's hanging it up. 

 

no idea what year it used to be.   unless someone knows where an MJ bed/frame might be tagged that would be a clue.  the axle and leafs are not original.  only the bed, frame, and tailgate (which isn't the one that's currently on the trailer but I still have it).

What's the length?

 

It seems like an enterprising young lad with access to a lathe could churn out a bunch of these things from a length of 3/4" hexagonal bar stock. Probably doesn't even need to be hardened, although that's not all that difficult.

some 1/2" round stock with the tip ground to a screwdriver and then a nut welded to the other end should suffice.   many, many moons ago (98?) I made one for my first 88 and welded a T handle to it.   now that I have an impact driver a nut seems like a better idea.

 I just found a spare. Who knows maybe I'll find more. Yesterday 5 load sensing valves turned into 9 by this morning 😆.

I had used an impact driver (the $100 HF one) on my brother's two minivans--man, was that sooooo handy! It made the job of changing a flat so much simpler! So yeah, if you could make an adapter with the hex the same size as the lug nuts, you'd really do yourself a favor.
