  1. I understand it was just a graphics package that most guys dislike. I however do like them, find them very unique, and think they were really advanced for design compared to anything else like it of the time. I'm wondering if anyone has ever seen one though that wasn't blue, white, or red? It seems like they only came in three color options. I'm curious if it was only available with certain packages. Where these a dealer or factory accessories thing?
  2. Only the doors that had tow mirrors have the inner brace for mirrors. The tow mirrors bolt into the brace which have a welded nut. I've had heeps where I've found them filled over and repainted running normal mirrors. I wondered if all AMC doors had them built in initially and were just installed on all Mjs and Xjs until they were gone. I'm not sure. One thing is certain though, if you have the brace and no hole, drill out the bottom center hole what can be reached from inside door. Then use the hole for measuring. Realistically you could simply just make your own brace and toss in whatever you want. Finding solid factory mj/xj tow mirrors not rusted out internally in the Midwest won't be easy if your that focused on factory setup.
  3. Hey Pete, looky what I found. I can save you the effort. It's all yours next time we meet up. I just found a spare. Who knows maybe I'll find more. Yesterday 5 load sensing valves turned into 9 by this morning 😆.
  4. 👀 95 Dakota's you say? Still a tricky one to stumble on but definitely worth looking for to help out more guys find these. I bet quite a few are in for a rude awakening if they go to ever use a factory spare it sounds.
  5. I wonder if that's the difference between xj and mj. The Mj #4 in pic is probably longer and that piece thereafter 87 eliminated hence why barely few know of its existence
  6. So this why it always confused me as well. This stud I pictured in post, from my understanding fits the tire iron and that wratchet thing someone posted. I found 2 different sets in my journeys that had those old school black bags with everything mentioned included as well as the collapsed xj crank we are use to. I will add though that I've seen 2 different sizes of those as well. I have several of those everywhere. Now I've been cleaning/organizing again, no clue which is xj or mj. I just bought a 91 2dr xj that had a plow from a local jeep dealer. It's a jalopy but my 1st 2 Dr xj. Of course the jack stuff is missing for reference.
  7. I want to say my s-10 had that back in the day or 1 of my old chevy trucks. May have been my 97 z-71
  8. That explains why I've found 2 of those as well with a kit. I wondered if it was factory too but I've either tossed them or haven't found them yet.
  9. That would be a serious score if you pulled that off.
  10. I had a feeling that one of you two were going to find this out 😆. I'm just surprised Pete even had a chance to respond before either of you guys.
  11. Pete shush! Your going to give it away lol. It's actually the pin that goes in the lug crank handle for the spare. I've only ever seen and found a half dozen all in 86 mj. I could only find a part number online referencing an Mj specific part with Jack components(not the clip lol) but have yet to see a pic yet. I haven't met anyone who has seen one yet nor knew of them. I've given all away to people whom I've met personally except for 1 which I've kept for myself as a reminder. My own little corner of cool finds so to speak.
  12. Just curious what guys still have them, know what they even are, which year or years it was offered, and a gold star if anybody can get the right part number with picture to prove it.
