Aquariums anyone?

Years ago I was really into keeping African Cichlids, especially species from Lake Tanganyika. I was even a member of the Pacific Coast Cichlid Association. I had two 55 gallon tanks and a 30 gallon tank, but that was over 20 years ago.

I see you have a powerhead in yours.

pics or it didn't happen :D

No fish currently. She had a Dam(n)-sel fish for YEARS. It was a vicious little cus. It attacked all the other fish in the tank. Wife wouldn’t get any more fish until the damsel became “fish food “. The thing finally died a few months ago. She’s been busy doing other things to get more fish.

I've got quite a few but only one actually setup.

- 5 gallon with glass divider inserts.  Some kind of breeder tank?

- 10 gallon that's empty

- 10 gallon that has a complete hermit setup and never had a hermit in it

- 20 gallon that was a bioactive frog terrarium that I recently took down.  It currently has the dirt mix with springtails and isopods in it but nothing else.

- 55 gallon bow front that's empty

- 55 gallon bow front with a 5-6yr old Green Terror Cichlid and some fake plants because real ones wouldn't survive.

My plan is to turn one of the 55 gallons into a bioactive paludarium with newts or salamanders and tetras with a nice cliff waterfall feature.  Once the Cichlid passes I haven't decided what to do with the other bowfront but the current candidates are multi-species catfish or Bala sharks.

That looks like a Green Terror Cichlid, a species from South America. I bred those for a while in the late '80s and sold the offspring to local shops, it got me the second 55 gallon tank.

You could be right, I'm not great with all the subspecies of fish but I thought the South American had very little color like Oscars?

Edit: quick googling confirms, it is indeed a Green Terror Cichlid and they are from South America.  Learned something new!

I've been giving some real thought to getting the tank down from the attic.

but then I remember how hard it is to get the humidity out of a house in Georgia in summer and hesitate adding more in.
