ECS Emissions Control System

Recommended Posts

All of it can be removed, but none of it needs to be removed.

If you live in Cali you have to have it to pass emissions.

I removed everything on mine to help declutter the engine bay.

As far as removal, just unplug what there is to unplug electrical and cap whatever vacuum ports need capping.

How much of this system can be removed and my 1989 4.0 still run good?

all of it, the EGR for instance, remove all components and cap all vacuum hoses that go to it, you can disconnect the EGR valve or remove it and plug the hole... the evap canister is up to you, but beware of gas fumes in summer...
