Comanchakazie
Hello there! This is my first post here, so go easy on me if I'm missing anything! That being said, here's the situation: my 1990 Comanche Pioneer has many cracks throughout the dashboard. For those that have gone this route, any advice on repairing the cracks versus just replacing it with a dash from a same-year xj? Follow-up, is it possible to replace the dash with a same-year xj? I had seen some other threads regarding post 96 swap, and some mentioning of firewall differences between 4.0 and previous engine set-ups. Any help is appreciated, I just want to get in the process of starting to restore it while I have time on my hands.
jdog
Welcome, start a build thread and add it to the registry. I cannot comment on the repair of the dash, replacement isn't bad harder part will be finding that color, not impossible. Any xj from 86-96 will work for the dash replacement, don't forget to pull your Vin plate and put onto the replacement dash

I’d try to find another and replace it, but repairing it may be viable with fiberglass body filler and such. I’m pretty sure there’s even a thread somewhere on here with some paints that match factory colors if you want to try and go the repair route.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
eaglescout526
Right here is what I’ve been working on. There are two ways to go about it. This thread is for the “my truck is a daily and I need it back together” and then there’s the professional way to paint the interior if you have plenty of time. Gjeep
I guess it a matter of how you want your truck to look...My neighbor tried the dash patch on his car. It looked worse than the cracked dash. If aesthetics is important to you, swap out the dash from a wrecking yard. It's not too difficult. Just remember to remove your original VIN plate on drivers windshield corner of dash and transplant it to the "new" dash.
