Rooster92
I am currently replacing the upper control arms. The bushings for the frame-end are built into the arms. The bushings on the axle-end however are separate. I have removed the arms, but the bushings remain in the axle. What methods do you have to remove it? I am assuming the metal sleeve is seized pretty bad.
jeeptec1
The bushing are pressed in. I’ve used an air hammer to remove the old ones and made a tool using a small piece of pipe 2 flat plates with a center hole and a long nut and bolt and pressed them in. Also a ball joint press tool will work too. You can rent those.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Chad R
I would rent a ball joint press. You might have to use sockets or something else to push on if it don’t have right size in the kit
JMO413
I ordered these from Amazon. They reuse the original metal sleeve. You just replace the rubber. I have them in my truck now. They seem to be holding up well and were easy to install. I bought another set to put in the front diff I am going to swap in.
DesertRat1991
For removal, I used a big drill bit to punch holes through the rubber until the center guts fell out. Then used an air hammer to crumple the sleeve and drive it out.
AZJeff
The best method is the ball joint press. the other methods of drilling or burning out the rubber and then hammering out the remaining steel sleeve is far more tedious. Autozone will loan a ball joint press for “free”

ghetdjc320
I too used the ball joint press method. Took maybe 3-5 mins per bushing
