Vehicle shipping

Question I'm considering getting a MJ from out East (19014) to Colorado (80465). 

 

First, anyone do/know someone that does that haul to bring a MJ this way?

 

Two, any ideas on something else? I've reached out to a few transportation  places and am getting quotes ranging from $1,300-1600. That seems a little high. last vehicle I had shipped from AZ up here was $400. I was guessing somewhere closer to $1kish.

I have an account there already but haven't posted a listing. I also gone through just about all the other online spots. Part of what makes it tricky is MJ is not running so a lot of those carriers require the vehicle to be brought to a spot and then loaded. Pick up form a residential spot for a non running get's to be tricky.

A friend of mine used Gold Star Transport to broker a transport.  He brought a full size RAM from the east coast to Denver.  It was running.  I'm not sure if they will work with you for a non-running rig.

There are shipping services listed on eBay Motors for those persons who buy vehicles across the country.   Many of them are used to dealing with vehicles in non-running condition.

 

It's not going to be cheap.   The prices you have been quoted don't seem to be grossly out of line.

I think $0.75 a mile is about average. So the $1300 seems fair.

I sold a 78 toyota camper to a guy in Florida (1100 miles from me) and it cost him $1400 to get it. It didnt run and was kinda awkwardly shaped so maybe that was why it was so high. The transporter had 2 other cars on the trailer and both of them combined was less than $1400...soo...


And I charged JohnJ $600, I think, to take his MJ, like 2800? Miles.

Thanks looked at it a few I've already reached out to. Not saying they a crazy out of line but I was suspecting closer to 1k. I'll keep looking and see. I know sometimes the smaller guys that just have a dually with a car hauler are a cheaper.

Not really comparing apples to apples, but I shipped my CJ7 from CA to HI, then back to CA five years later.  It was between $900-$1000 each way, this was 2000 & 2005.
