Koshon L
Need help figuring out what this vin means! It’s registered as a 87 but.... originally had a 2.8 with a 904 trans and 207 transfer case AMC 20 rear d30 front. I thought the 2.8 was only used in 86 but it’s also a swb 🤷🏽♂️
eaglescout526
I......I can't even. I am not sure where to begin. It is only 7 so I can't run it. If I run it as a JT it comes up as an XJ. Buuuuuuutttttt… if I run it as an HT I get this which is unique as I have never seen a special paint code come up *X1 -H9 APA MONOTONE PAINT PACKAGE CBA BENCH SEAT - STRAIGHT BK CGX Head Restraints-Outboard Seating, RR DDQ Transmission - 5-Speed Manual EPD ENGINE - 2.5L I4 TBI GAS GSC MIRROR - RIGHT BLACK HCC HEATER W/UPR LEVEL VENTIL - TYPE II JJA CIGAR LIGHTER - FRT COMP LAP FUEL ECONOMY SHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT LMA HALOGEN HEADLAMPS MBJ Bumper - Front, Black MD8 Delete Front License Plate Bracket NAA ESA W/CATALYST (EXC CALIF SYSTEM) P99 UNRELEASED PAINT IN A SPECIAL SITUATION PE4 QE4 RAC RADIO - AM/MTR TBG SPARE TIRE - COMPACT Maybe this one. Build date 8/21/86 Body code JL62-but I think this makes it a long bed. Is there a firewall or rad support VIN plate under the hood anywhere? Do you have the registration on hand to help verify it? The 2.8 was sporting a Offenhauser intake with ported heads and long tube headers
eaglescout526
Second plate translates to National Renault Factories. Not that that helps.

eaglescout526
Maybe it was a race truck and it didn't need a VIN.

JMO413
https://www.acronymfinder.com/Camionnette-(French%3a-Van)-(CTTE).html CTTE is the abbreviation for Camionnette which would be France. That is stamped on the second tag. Wonder if it was imported? All vehicles in the US by 1986 were 17 digit vin's. That would make sense I guess? Koshon L
Another clue.. I have no doubt truck was originally black on black with gold pinstripes. Wounded_Fighter
Is there a plate in the engine bay near the windshield vin in the driver corner/fender area, near brake booster? My MJ has a VIN plate located there aswell.

You can always separate the two and rivet both on the rad support. Is it aluminum in color? I say do it. It might unravel what this truck is.
