watchamakalit Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Pump tests good but won't run when connected in truck. I have a varying voltage at the pump plug 10.8-11.4 when the wipers cycle and the washer is activated on the stalk. Any ideas? Something sounds shorted. scguy Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Put a headlight or turn signal bulb in place of the pump and see if it lights bright. Always best to load check a circuit. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Just because you can see voltage on a multimeter (that puts so little load on a circuit it might as well be zero) doesn't mean the circuit can carry current. And if the voltage at the plug is 10.8V with no load, I can imagine the current carrying ability of this circuit isn't very good to begin with. 10.8V at the washer plug is very low. Makes me think you've got one or many bad connections between the battery and the pump. What is the battery voltage with the ignition and wipers on? Was this reading with the engine on or off?
watchamakalit Posted February 2, 2020 Author Posted February 2, 2020 That reafing was key on engine off 12.6 at the battery terminals. I'll check it with a bulb and report backMy build: https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=https://comancheclub.com/topic/8033-finally-found-onenow-it-has-a-new-floor/&share_tid=8033&share_fid=53169&share_type=t
watchamakalit Posted February 2, 2020 Author Posted February 2, 2020 There is not enough power to light a test light so I am assuming a short in the circuit. I tried bypassing delay box already with no change. scguy Posted February 2, 2020 Posted February 2, 2020 Doesn't sound like a short, sounds like high resistance, either through a bad connection somewhere or a bad ground. Can you jump a ground to it and see if it goes to working?Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk
cruiser54 Posted February 3, 2020 Posted February 3, 2020 Power doesn't matter if there's not a good ground on the truck. Check the resistance between the ground connection at the pump plug over to the negative battery post. Key OFF.
watchamakalit Posted February 4, 2020 Author Posted February 4, 2020 I will check this tonight when I get home from work.My build: https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=https://comancheclub.com/topic/8033-finally-found-onenow-it-has-a-new-floor/&share_tid=8033&share_fid=53169&share_type=t

mjeff87 Posted February 4, 2020 Posted February 4, 2020 I know you said the pump checks out good...did you ohm it out for that test? Try using some jumpers and power the pump direct from the battery and see what happens. It might suck, it might blow, or it might do nothing, lol.

watchamakalit Posted February 5, 2020 Author Posted February 5, 2020 Between the 2 terminals that connect to the washer pump. My build: https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink?url=https://comancheclub.com/topic/8033-finally-found-onenow-it-has-a-new-floor/&share_tid=8033&share_fid=53169&share_type=t
Ωhm Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 Connect Test Light between C169_B and Battery Negative (-). Does Test Light glow? Next step: Connect clip side of Test Light to Battery Positive (B+). Probe C169_A. Does Test Light glow?

Ωhm Posted February 5, 2020 Posted February 5, 2020 Disconnect C171. Connect Testlight to good ground. Probe C171_D. KEY ON. Does Testlight shine brightly? If yes, jumper C171_D to C171_B. KEY ON. Does Washer Pump run?
