500 MJ
Hello All, I’m starting a thread here for a truck I recently acquired for my Brother to use. I bought it here on the club from “mkusmc”. The truck is currently at my my house in Wisconsin under my care for a short duration until I’m able to get it to my brother for his use in Michigan. I hope to address some issues it has before he gets it, but we’ll see if he gets it before I have the chance to pick away at the things it needs. 2.5L - 5 spd - 4wd - 30/35 - Somewhat well optioned (with non-working factory A/C). 258K miles. Originally purchased in Tulsa OK, looks like it spent most of its life in that area judging by receipts in the glove box. It runs, but it needs attention in plenty of areas before it’s road worthy. It drove itself on/off the trailer, which is a better way to start than some vehicles I’ve winched on and then drug off. Here are some pictures of the condition that it came to our family in, enjoy! neohic
Looks great(ish), Brent! For the longest time I wanted a 2.5 MJ for a daily driver/beater and I got a little nostalgic when I saw this one for sale. I really dig it. Glad it’s going to a good home! DoubtingThomas86
any updates? Now over in MI (east side) sitting in a garage. 4 cyl wasn’t firing so I added some sea foam to the oil before changing. Got a bunch of crud out but it still was misfiring. Had some Time on my hands so I decided to take the plunge remove the valve cover and wouldnt you know it I had a bent rod on cylinder four. Got the parts ordered down at the local auto shop and will hopefully get the new pushrods and head assembly all installed by the end of next week. In the meantime cleaning up the manifolds as well as the head. Just needs a little TLC... well and a lot of other stuff too but we’ll get to that. Anything that I should do while I have the head off? Pete M
how bad do the cylinder walls look? Tech questions from the OP should really go in the Tech forum so more eyes will see 'em.
500 MJ
Welcome to the club Scott, glad to see you got all signed up! For the record, the only thing I was able to accomplish while the truck was at my place for all those months was to fix the driver’s side door issue it had. It was sprung at some point and opened into the fender, made it super annoying to get in and out of until I fixed it. I also took the liberty to use it around the yard many, many times. No free rent here! The truck found it’s new owner a few weeks ago when the trip was made to tow it back to MI. Looking forward to seeing what you do with it Bro!
