Saw a turbo thread that gave me an idea

I was looking at turbo 4.0s like I do every few months and I found a YouTube video that led to this.

https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/turbo-4-0-cherokee-240581/

Pay attention to the July update with the Clifford manifold and 102mm throttle body.

Hardest part of turbocharging for us is the computer/fuel delivery

Installing one of these on my brothers NA 360 magnum in a few weeks.

From what I have seen it works good on turbo V8s.

The only problem that jumps out at me right now is it seems like the 4bbl intakes on the in line motors resulted in outer cylinders running lean and inners running rich. Not sure how problematic this would be.

Probably wouldn't get to try this for another year or two but looks fun and possible.

Those are not impressive numbers.

Still chasing those illusive 4.0 dreams.........or are they nightmares?

Ford got it right, Chrysler has never been anything but a fail. Sorry, just the way it is.

So, when you see numbers like this.......vids and info all over the web (Ford Barra)...........I just don't understand what you guys are chasing?

If you want beyond 400hp/tq ? V8 is the only sensible answer.

But, here is Ford, beyond 1000hp-

Throw 40k at anything and it will probably make power and probably be reliable...

What do you think guy like Cobra Marty are throwing at 4.0s?

None of this is cheap, none of it.

And seriously, I'd like to know what Alexia's bottom line is on his build.

Speaking of manifolds, I would like to see someone try a 99+ equal length manifold adapted to a carburetor. I feel that would have the best chance of flowing fuel evenly. Plus you get away from the 4.0 efi system limitations if you use the Fitech  GO Efi system. But in the end you’ll still be spending much more for a marginal outcome then just by jamming a 5.3, 6.0 or 6.2 in it.

This is what I like about Puerto Rico and my beat up Comanche. No emissions. I got a motor, basic igntion system and a carburetor. Manual everything.

Does that include your labor?  I've read through many build threads (vicarious pursuits) and it would appear you spend some time in the shop.

I have that estimated around $10,000.  I tracked the number of hours at $40 an hour.

$40/hour?  You’re undervaluing your labor and intellectual investment in your project.

Think of that as the apprentice rate.  I was learning a bunch of stuff while doing it.  There many little crimes that an experienced builder done on it that would throw me out of their shop if they saw them.
