IronManche87
Hey all! I'm excited to say that I'm taking a big step towards success. I currently work at a landscape supply yard (full time gig) operating smallish frontloaders such as a little manual Kubota with a 1/2 yard bucket and a bigger CASE 480 full yard bucket and a skip and drag on the rear as well as driving a 2 yard dump truck and a 5 yard truck. Both of which are class C. I also operate forklifts and am certified to do so. But I met a gentleman at oreillys (my part time gig) whom owns an excavation and grading company and said if he ever needed help to let me know. Well a couple months goes by and out of the blue (which was much needed because I was going through a rough patch) he messaged me last Friday asking if I wanted to do some work which I obviously said yes. Well I got to talking with the guy HE was working with and was asked if operating equipment was what I wanted to do and I said yes and he offered me a full time job (more of an actual career than the landscape supply yard) with a place to work on the truck as well as offered to help me with a commuter vehicle! He has a bunch of different types of equipment and said he would teach me anything and everything! He offered to match my current pay to start with room for improvement as well! At my current place, the boss is so stingy the only way I'd get a decent wage is if I were to stay for almost 10 yrs lol. Plus I've been getting skimped on overtime there so it makes my decision of leaving even easier. I plan on getting my class A license with airbrake and transfer truck endorsements and take advantage of the opportunity to learn on the equipment before going to do so which will make the tests even easier! This couldn't have happened at a better point in my life and I'm excited to be taking the initiative to improve my future with skills I'll be able to use when breaking ground on my property in Oregon and who knows I may even develop on my property in Arizona! Hopefully this will mean more money for Comanche parts! Lol just wanted to share my new found success with y'all! I'm excited! Happy jeepin y'all! mjeff87
Congrats on the job, go for it I had the chance to get CDL certified courtesy of Uncle Sam many years ago and didn't take the opportunity......I kick myself to this day for that. Do it! Also, your pics of your MJ made my heart skip a quick beat. It's a spitting image of what mine used to look like, almost to a T. Nice truck! I now wish I'd have never sold mine, even though I hardly used it much.
WahooSteeler
Congrats on the new gig. The best job you will ever have is the one you love doing and it is evident in your post that being an operator is what you want to do. Sounds like a great opportunity with all the different equipment you can learn on and master!
