Glad to see it all finally come together!

I glad to finally have it all installed. It's really quite fun watching it while you drive. Put a few miles on after I got everything installed. No rattles what so ever! Thanks again you do good work!

Had the day off and it was beautiful in Iowa today. In the 70's and a nice breeze. After doing the CAD delete and going with the one piece axle I developed a slight vibration. I was guessing it was either u- joints or not balanced front drive shaft. So for ease and because bigger is better I ordered a drive shaft. Tom Woods is awesome it's all I have to say. Descent price, fast shipping, and beautiful work.

New versus old.

This is probably overkill at the moment but will be great if I go bigger. Best part no more vibration! Used to come on at about 50 now it's all good at 75.

I also got a 90° CAT five so for the REM. It just looks better and it doesn't hurt the relay cover retainer.

Did the rear main seal again today. Both halfs that came out looked fine but it was definitely leaking.

Off with the oil pan.

IMG_20201209_154015862.jpg.fee1adfd02c7f1f96ab3fe11ad762f8d.jpg

I'm still amazed how good this bearing looks.

IMG_20201209_155757243.jpg.4211b16ca7dc4ad290b7cc70726d127b.jpg

Hopefully I have better luck this time. The old top half didn't want to come out nicely but I won.

I love the FelPro blue rubber gaskets.

Oil pan was way easier to clean this time. LOL Hopefully this one will be in for a nice long time.

So last week the truck developed a noise. It was definitely rotational sounding and only between 8-13 MPH. I was sure it was a u joint so I changed the only two that weren't already new. They were in the rear drive shaft and we're the only ones I hadn't replaced yet.

IMG_20210305_121126057.jpg.cbc56a851ddb1cd45c9d8b0fee022d89.jpg

Out with the drive shaft.

IMG_20210305_125039594.jpg.b049b7c2052efbbd560e8ee2bc53d4ff.jpg

A ball joint press makes u joints easy. IMHO

IMG_20210305_121141498.jpg.221fb472b5541da4c11db67dd829beaa.jpg

O'reilly's actually stocked Spicer yay.

Everything went back together quite nice. Took it for a drive and still have the gremlin. So the 6 year old and I took out the front drive shaft. He was beyond proud of himself. I only had to break then lose and he did the rest. It was a great day except the gremlin was still there. So I give the WK to work this week. To say the least this was driving me slightly crazy.  So off to try and get the nose pin pointed. After finding the perfect wall to bounce the noise off my new guess was the right front hub. So I got a Timken from Rock Auto.

IMG_20210314_192820599.jpg.497b82f8a53778764cdf49afc0180767.jpg

Hopefully this will be better than the Moog!

IMG_20210313_142340446.jpg.9653c9a68019d81fb21b82dc01043fb1.jpg

It all came apart nicely. Antisieze is an amazing product!

IMG_20210313_145258951.jpg.f781afed03ef0e445c32804c66af6108.jpg

In with the new. Hopefully it last more than a few thousand miles.

IMG_20210313_151116544.jpg.85361d091ad858fc19a6871cf64270f6.jpg

Back together and no more noise!!

It really like me that a Moog hub only lasted a few thousand miles and a couple years. I guess live and learn.

Happy to be driving it again!

So I was backing out at work a couple weeks ago and a customer going the wrong way hit me.

IMG_20210510_181321270_HDR.jpg.b60b7a34714d8c552b8db8c97f0f2d67.jpg

Luckily they just caught the bumper.

IMG_20210510_181326816_HDR.jpg.d3643a657e6dc21d2aa3eed24213611c.jpg

Peeled it like a banana. Totaled the bedside on the Chevy!

IMG_20210510_192120457.jpg.690c0e49f757ceb6e612f7ff3ad71de8.jpg

Trimmed off the bent part and hammered it down so the tailgate could open.

IMG_20210510_192128584.jpg.ae01202814f142c4d992ff78cfe47492.jpg

It did a number on the bumper!

IMG_20210524_151849785_HDR.jpg.5a1febc5decd2efe4aa1b8c5db049574.jpg

Got the new one installed today. It fought me but it's on.

I had the week off a bit ago for my birthday. My wife and sister in-law got me an amazing cake.

IMG_20210612_193905935.jpg.dfb16d83ba498908046f85aa0c99bf5d.jpg

So for my birthday I got to replace my driver's floor pan again. The first time I was in a hurry and cut a few corners. I also didn't fix the water leak that caused the issue. After finding and fixing all my water leaks it was time to do it right.

IMG_20210621_152358209.jpg.bcf78628e88dde072efaabfa9a29f2b0.jpg

Most of the ugly cut out.

IMG_20210621_134538723.jpg.c07df046b78faf63752ad0f7ce080f33.jpg

Everything got a coat of weld through primer this time.

IMG_20210621_203319388.jpg.a6c3dda0db0ede7c60e4d2c18b1a13fe.jpg

The key parts for pan is a very nice piece. Some trimming around the seat mount/ floor brace is required. It also comes with three holes that I'm guessing are in the original pans.

IMG_20210627_142653322.jpg.2507ba83b836c6e03fb88c1c6be7702b.jpg

These two small ones near the rear.

IMG_20210627_142649639.jpg.84e0bb2b8168b340dab942036f701828.jpg

This big guy towards the front.

IMG_20210627_142902230.jpg.9857191360a17d01e877adc6df55d780.jpg

Plugs for the two small holes. Part # 55360494AA. I got them from vintage parts.

IMG_20210703_222218031.jpg.489c70119094ef4bb42fd5abdbef3427.jpg

Plugs for the big hole. I will add the party number when I find it again. The label is missing most of the part number.

IMG_20210702_191631876.jpg.bd795aad51f9cfcd7d81c6532cd5f2e7.jpg

Plugs installed, seam sealed, & painted. Top bottom inside and out.

IMG_20210703_164742879.jpg.bbbebed9cfea1b2cccac9b7f25c20e1d.jpg

Everything back together and the rugged ridge floor mat now fits. It took me way too long but all the bad is out and it's better than ever.

So my cousin bought a DJ-5 and it's awesome beacuse he's a mail man. He going to daily it to work.

IMG_20210704_184532923_HDR.jpg.54f7016a0e5da89235a53311f367e311.jpg

It has sat for a long time. New HEI distributor and a Weber card and it's runs like a fine old sewing machine.

IMG_20210704_184524490_HDR.jpg.b1de7fdbd7092a0bc8f0ec0c76e2699f.jpg

Could you imagine driving by your local post office and seeing this in the parking lot?

IMG_20210704_184606890.jpg.27c67461d57380ee49340fd728bba2d7.jpg

With that said I took him out his wheels that I had tires put on at work. Helped him out them back on and listened to it purr for a while. Realized how late it was and headed home. On my way home I realized I had no headlights. Lucky it was a short drive by the time it was really dark. So I started checking wiring and fuses to find this.

IMG_20210813_183912368.jpg.5c7b4ecd7667ac5da2132dde64fabd54.jpg

Apparently the headlight relay harness I bought wasn't weather tight.

IMG_20210813_183921839.jpg.138a5408800ad8bb1070137798e59bd6.jpg

It just corroded apart.

IMG_20210813_190452013.jpg.20e3622d96b0d0213522b20f361fe534.jpg

Weather tight fuse holder installed. Headlights fixed. Used crimp and seal connectors and shrink tubing. I also realized the Littlefuse brand fuse holders are built to put wire loom into them. It locks into the there little groves on each side. Gotta live fixing something you've already done once. I can't believe I didn't notice the crappy fuse holder when I installed the harness! Yeahy headlights again.

Finally but the bullet and bought the Downey Products tonneau cover. It's a nice cover for the price. IMHO $299.95 to my front door.

IMG_20210830_092428524.jpg.428904dc6a29786c2e726899863ad34a.jpg

Frame and bows installed.

IMG_20210830_094005509.jpg.8bc900a73f99802971206c0aff743f85.jpg

Fits super tight.

IMG_20210830_105715403_HDR.jpg.4d588ea05e35efe0fc07ea4f55743020.jpg

Love how it changed the look of the truck.

So my left front caliper decided it wanted to hang up. So today it got replaced.

IMG_20211108_111955615.jpg.6372df5cb6ec7ac4c6cd51c91368e18c.jpg

The good part is it all came apart nice.

IMG_20211108_112019759.jpg.b26bfd4c20eb62801dd9d13593f3b396.jpg

The piston was definitely sitting cricked.

IMG_20211108_144756596.jpg.1ed60fd80dc2cda7056021f605cdc44c.jpg

You can see the hot spot the pad left on the rotor.

IMG_20211108_113007921.jpg.b67a9c66813a554629ffce2f4495565f.jpg

Out with the old in with the new. It got new rotors and pads.

IMG_20211108_135836069.jpg.4f1a0a4fcfb64ae4c0ac9f41f4b02963.jpg

Did an oil change while it was in the garage. Everything is working like it should now. Time to put some more miles on it. Someday I will remember to take pictures when I'm done. Lol
