I had it on an M543A-1 military wrecker crane!!!

It wouldn't stop til the 28,000 pound six wheel drive came to a complete stop. E ticket ride for sure.

Moral of the thread: Put the wrench down and walk away :holdwrench:. Spend your time an money elsewhere. I’ve heard the argument before that leaf springs will keep you more stable while “side loaded” or crawling on the side of a hill. That may have some merit but there is simply no denying the comfort, flex and tune ability of a link setup.

Yep.  Early attempts at coil suspension left a lot to be desired.  Modern coil setups (including the XJ/MJ) are hard to beat.  All of the problems have been ironed out and it's easy to build it right.  When you get death wobble (which I have gotten with leaf springs too) it's not hard to fix.
