Wiggilez Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Two questions. 1. I've heard that you can't replace the e12s because a normal socket won't fit. True or false. 2. I've miss placed all the Bellhousing bolts (even the starter ones) so now I'm just going to stop by the nut and bolt shop to get some. But I need to know what to get. Thank you
DirtyComanche Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 You can replace the E12s with normal ones. There is tons of room.
Pete M Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 I replaced my e12 bolts with studs. helped out with aligning the trans for installation.
Dando Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Bolts: starter upper - 10mm x 1.5 x 25mm starter lower - 3/8” x 16 x 1.5” Bellhousing uppers - 3/8” x 16 x 1 7/8” bellhousing lowers - 7/16” x 14 x 3 1/8”

Did you go with the factory lengths Dando posted? 1 hour ago, Dando said: Bolts: starter upper - 10mm x 1.5 x 25mm starter lower - 3/8” x 16 x 1.5” Bellhousing uppers - 3/8” x 16 x 1 7/8” bellhousing lowers - 7/16” x 14 x 3 1/8” Do these apply to all-years of 4.0? Getting ready to drop my BA10 next month.
Pete M Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 pretty sure the studs were like an inch longer than the bolt would be. add locktite to the stud and use 2 nuts together to tighten it in. let the locktite cure before installing the trans and try not to bottom out the studs.

Will do! Did you use red loctite and did you replace all the bolts, or just the E12 ones?
Pete M Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 whatever the weaker locktite is. just has to hold enough to tighten the nuts. I replaced only the e12s.
Wiggilez Posted May 22, 2018 Author Posted May 22, 2018 Thank you dando for the bolt specs And also thank you to pete for the stud idea.
