It’s currently raining outside.  I will measure my 88 MJ with 4.0L and 2wd AW4 & D35.

My 88 SWB 4.0 ba10 might be 1/8 inch longer.  Upgraded to AX15 years ago but same shaft.  Bought truck new so no changes.

Si. My driveshaft, slip yoke, and pinion yoke are not stock, so if Mean Lemon is stock, he's probably correct for his configuration.

Yes. Center of u joint on the slip yoke to the center of u joint on the axle. 

 

Although I currently have a 8.25 on it, I still used the same driveshaft from when it had the d35 on it.

The driveline shop in town must have had this, because when I swapped the AW4 into my

SWB - 4.0 - BA-10 - NP 231 - D44 he shortened the shaft 1" (and painted it too ).

Il try to verify the 86 2.8 ax5 np207 d35 this weekend. The drive shaft has to be in that damn shed somewhere.
