Ebay Special Headlight

Recommended Posts

I have that harness BIG LAMP BRILLIANCE INTENSIFIER OF AUTOCAR in my 91. It's cheap, and you really probably ought to at least swap out the relays or carry a spare, but it does the job for stock size bulbs. The wire is 16 gauge if I recall correctly, so high wattage bulbs are a no go with that particular harness.

Also, DOT or ECE (ECE is better) lamps only. Don't be that guy who puts those crappy chinese headlights on, never aims them properly, and blinds everyone else on the road.

Speaking of the relay upgrade. Is the one in your signature a suggested one to buy or are they all the same off of eBay?

it's more an example than a recommendation, but it's hard to do worse than the factory craziness.

Don't forget the equally crappy if not crappier "Made in India" lamps (Autopal comes to mind).

That doesn't matter Krusty as long as they look cool.
That's why I bought a set like 6 years ago. But had them in and first night I was about 20 miles from home and couldn't see at all.
Not even exaggerating, my running lights were brighter. And different bulbs didn't help at all.
The black just absorbs the light

no hijack dudes, but a while back I started to perform the relay installation to drive the headlights but I ran into this harness connector behind the LH HL below the washer bottle, which had all the leads to the HLs. So I take it apart and notice there's corrosion galore, so I decide to try to clean the terminals and it all falls apart. So then I proceeded to solder all the leads eliminating the connector and totally spaced that I was to install the relay circuitry. I then went ahead and turned the HLs on and let me tell ya, these babies were 40% brighter then before! Soon I will still install the relays, but we are about to move to beautiful AL in a couple months, projects are on hold. BTW, this harness connector may only apply to 86 and below but unsure...

I have the relay harness Pete M linked to, or similar. It cost me more. I also have Autopals.  Both work good for me. I'd say double the light on each upgrade. NAPA does have relays that will replace the ones provided. I do have Flosser std bulbs that I will replace the ones provided with the Autopals. No real problems in about a year  or more with the Autopals. The harness about 6 months or more. I did have one of the relays come out. More my installation. I do think Cibies to be better.
