Jackrabbit41 Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 After my jeep sits for about 3-4 hours it leaks coolant. All the hoses are new and tight, they arent leaking, so I'm thinking the waterpump is weeping, although it is still functioning. Will waterpumps weep even if they arent bad?
Green Mesa XJ Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 Freeze plugs, heater core and radiator can be sources as well.If the pump weeping it’s dying. Still I wouldn’t t rule our other sources yet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
DirtyComanche Posted November 28, 2017 Posted November 28, 2017 A waterpump can/will weep before total failure. It's actually a design 'feature' that it will leak before the bearing f's right off and leaves you stranded. Brake clean the engine, observe for leaks after shutdown, as it easily it could be something else... Change the part that leaks.

Jackrabbit41 Posted November 29, 2017 Author Posted November 29, 2017 I just wasn't sure if theyd weep before theyre dead or when theyre dead
jeep.kevin Posted December 2, 2017 Posted December 2, 2017 the weeping just means the seals in it are on their way out brother. Its your jeep screaming for help... Well, more like bleeding for help haha.
carnuck Posted December 5, 2017 Posted December 5, 2017 I don’t know if I would do it today, but back when I was a broke student/single dad going to/from school and my water pump on my old Rambler wagon started weeping (they didn’t warranty parts) I put a screw in the weep hole with black silicone and got by another two years with it. The bearing was fine (remanned pump and not Chicom bearings) so I took a chance.
