Small 2" lift

Looking for some advice on who has a good quality front spring. I have a 88 MJ 2wd and would like to lift it about 2" (no more). Would also like a non progressive wound  type spring, just a good straight wound spring. I see that Rusty's  suspension has a set of 2" springs , how is the quality. Lot of bad rap about Rusty's on the web, but I really don't know.  What are some other choices that you guys have dealt with. Thanks

I've run both Rough Country and Rusty's, both considered "bottom of the barrel" but I've never had an issue with sag or poor ride quality.   Both performed better than the worn out stock springs I took off so I was happy.

 

That said, I've never used "high end" springs like OME so I don't truly know the difference in ride quality.  I have never once heard a bad thing about OME and would love to try out their products if funds allowed.  I just worry that if they are truly wayyy better, that I would never be able to handle the ride of cheaper springs and always have to fork over the big money.

OME doesn't advertise or guarantee the amount of lift for any of their springs. Several of us have used the OME 930's and based on reported results the lift usually ends up at around 2" over what the truck was before the install after settling out. And the ride and handling improvement over the stockers is outstanding.

XJ upcountry front springs  or ZJ V8 fronts will give you a bit more than an inch.....one thing that some people do not realize is that a factory spring isolater is 5/8"....they can be stacked with a spring spacer combination to "dial in" a required height in 5/8" increments

Thanks for the spring suggestions, looks like I will get the ome 930 front springs and get some JKS rear leaf shackles and that should sit my MJ were I want it. I have 30/9.50-15 tires now and don't want to go any larger. The 2 to 4wd swap begins next year. Thanks again:thanks:

tramac2dirt - This thread has been very helpful.   Thanks for posting.   I also have a '88 2WD Eliminator that I will be doing essentially the same things too.   I picked up a pair of axles and drive shafts from a '93 XJ that I will be rebuilding over the winter so that's covered.   I'm currently trying to track down a transfer case.   I have a set of 245/75R/16's on TJ Moab wheels and think a 2" lift should be OK.   I have no plan to wheel it - basically a DD and camping vehicle.   I'll be following your progress and I should have a build thread to post too.

I just picked the parts up last week and am just getting into this.   My MJ is a SWB and I haven't compared the rear shafts yet.   I have the original MJ rear shaft of course.   Am I looking at having it shortened?   I wanted to sort out the transfer case (auto trans) before I deal with the rear shaft.   The guy I got the axles from threw the transfer case in for free and I think I'm looking at rebuilding it (I put it into 2WD, 4WD, etc. and nothing happens at either output shaft).

Thanks.  There's a shop close by that can handle that for me.   I have other things to do while it's there so my down time shouldn't be too bad.
