HOrnbrod Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Anybody watching? Hell of a series so far, games tied 2-2, game 5 now also tied at 7-7. Two heavyweights slugging it out. Gotta pull for Houston after all the grief the city suffered from Harvey. Roll Astros!!
Ωhm Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 I'm a big Justin Verlander fan. He done good with our losing Tigers. Would like to see him finally get a WS ring. Hope he helps the Astros go all the way. I think he'll pitch game 6 in LA. EDIT: My brother lives in LA. He might not think the same way I do.
HOrnbrod Posted October 30, 2017 Author Posted October 30, 2017 I like Verlander a lot too in spite of the fact he usually beats up on my Red Sox quite often. He's a class act. I always go with the American league team in the Series, doubly so this year since it's against LA. Hopefully he can close it out in game 6 if Houston can get it done tonight.
cruiser54 Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Dodgers around our house. Cody Bellinger's Mom is my wife's friend......
HOrnbrod Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 Oh-oh, bottom of the sixth and the Dodgers are starting to knock Verlander around a bit, 2-1 Dodgers. But no worries Cruiser. Your boy Bellinger struck out to end the inning. I don't expect Verlander back in for the seventh. EDIT: Not Verlander's best outing tonight, Dodgers win 3-1. But that's okay, we got a game seven final tomorrow. This does happen often.
Skorpyo Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 I'm pulling for Houston. They've never won and while it's been a while for the Dodgers I like an underdog in most fights. It was good to see Orel at the game though, that' was cool.
HOrnbrod Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 Looks like Yu Darvish will start for LA; he blew up on his last start in game 3. Let's hope that happens again. Roll Astros!
Skorpyo Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 McCullers is going for Houston, hes been solid during the playoffs but i'd like to see him walk fewer batters...
HOrnbrod Posted November 1, 2017 Author Posted November 1, 2017 The pressure both starters will face in a World Series game seven has got to be huge. More so I think for the visiting team's pitcher. I wouldn't be surprised to see both Verlander and Kershaw make bail-out appearances at some point..
Skorpyo Posted November 1, 2017 Posted November 1, 2017 I can't imagine the pressure... it's essentially everything they've worked for their entire careers crammed into 2-3 hours of what they will be remembered for... I'm a Nationals fan and they pulled all the stops to stay in it against the Cubs, even having Scherzer come in as a reliever so I'm sure both coaches have told their staff, "everyone's available".
HOrnbrod Posted November 2, 2017 Author Posted November 2, 2017 5-0 Astros in the 2nd - Darvish gets beat up again, only worse this time. He just cemented his legacy in baseball history. It's silent in Chavez Ravine. Kershaw's up already in the third.
Skorpyo Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 I’d plunk Turner too. He looks ridiculous. Haha
HOrnbrod Posted November 2, 2017 Author Posted November 2, 2017 Agree. The boy can hit though, and plays a good 3rd base too. So who cares what he looks like.
Skorpyo Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 I agree, he is a heck of a player. I’m just not a fan of the hobo look. I just thought it was funny he got HBP twice. I’m glad he didn’t charge the mound. Edit: or get hurt. Never wanna see that.
HOrnbrod Posted November 2, 2017 Author Posted November 2, 2017 Quick 2017 World Series game 7 summary: Houston punches LA in the mouth by scoring five runs in the first two innings. LA chokes and dies the rest of the game. In their own ballpark. Pitiful. Congrats to Houston for their first ever World Series win.
Skorpyo Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Morton was a machine in closing it out for Houston. Great game where LA seemed to always be threatening to get back in it. Most 5-1 games are far less interesting than this one was. Great game, great win for a city that needs a good celebration.
HOrnbrod Posted November 2, 2017 Author Posted November 2, 2017 There was great pitching equally by both teams after the second inning. The rest of the game was basically a pitching shutout except for the lone LA run. It was a poor management decision IMO by Roberts to start Darvish after his abysmal showing in game three. I think there will be some changes made in the off-season for the Dodgers.
gogmorgo Posted November 2, 2017 Posted November 2, 2017 Don't know what all the fuss is about. Its just a van.
HOrnbrod Posted November 3, 2017 Author Posted November 3, 2017 And an ugly van at that. The Astro-van team will rule until next season, then the Red Sox will take over.
