I stumbled apon this picture the otherday, and decided to scan it in.

My wife must have taken it, just another day in the life of my YJ.

The poor thing hauled stuff ALL the time.

Anyhow thats why I wanted an MJ, so my poor old YJ could get a break!

(as soon as this MJ is road worth the YJ gets a leafed added in the rear).

I forgot to mention.

I also picked the MJ because I knew I would have no problem finding parts at the local junkyards!

But most of all, because it was made by Jeep !

I picked mine cause I wanted something different. Everyone has had a wrangler, and a chrokee  and once you have seen one built.... you have seen them all :brows: When I first got Pong and decided to wheel him, I was the only MJ out of 250 rigs at the VA4WDA annual run 2 yrs in a row jamminz.gif PLus what other jeep rig can carry all your camping gear, as well as spare parts for the whole group and not need a trailer

I was all hell-bent to sell mine but now that I think about it. It'll be a cheap investment to renew my lic. plates and just take the insurance off the MJ. that way I can just poke at it and once I get it running, take it out to a friend's place to keep it and just go take it out once in a while. Then the transformation begins. 4.0/AX-15/242 swap :D

Transformers!!!

I got mine for $100 because it was different. 8 grand later, I'm puttin the second new motor in.

I got mine, literally, from the proverbial "little-old-lady-who-only-drove-it-to-church-on-Sundays". Actually it was her husband's who bought it new in '87, and he passed away, and she couldn't stand seeing it sitting in the driveway (kept reminding her of him). Got it with 80K miles on it for $1200 back in late '98. Best damn money I ever spent.....

I got my 88 when I was 17 for $600 from my mom's ex sister in law. Then when the front end went out on it, I was looking for another vehicle. Happened across this board, and finally bought GIR's 86 X for $1200 back on Sept. 22, 2006. Very easily the best purchases I've ever made.

I was looking for a first-car and was working full time for the first time in my life. 4-1am, so on my day off I planned to go fishing with my dad. We drove past a neighbors house and he had his prized MJ sitting in the driveway with a for-sale sign on it. $1000 obo. Snapped it up for $500. $1000 later I had a nice MJ which is now DOA with no starter and me with no money.

exactly why I wheel a longbed MJ. I was the only one at the cherokee crawl, and most people don't even know what the hell it is when I pull up.

that and I can toss the swampers and camping gear in the bed, roll on road tires and swap them.

7 feet of cargo space is pretty nice.

I got an MJ cause all my dad ever drove was jeeps. he drove j-trucks (9 passed through him I believe), and then he got his 86 renault diesel comanche, and sold the last j-truck. I liked it enough, but wasn't hooked...yet.

stumbled across mine (MJ3800) in a field. was driving by on the road, and saw it behind a cornshed...could only see the cab vents cause of the grass growing around it, and sure enough, an MJ.

got it for $300. complete with tranny in the bed, only 66,000 original miles, and a rebuilt motor already installed. almost no rust was present either...now $6800 later, you see what I have :D no more 2.8!

aaaaand I've owned in the realms of 7 or 8 other comanches, most for parts, a few others for wheeling or that passed through me.

That was one of the reasons I snatched up my Pioneer, (7ft bed).

Go look at trucks at the dealers today.

It's actualy hard to find an 8' bed, thats a reasonable price

and if you actualy WANT a bench seat,
