FireMedic493 Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Hello everyone! Not sure if this is the right place for this, but I wanted to introduce myself. I just purchased a 1990 Comanche Eliminator 4.0 4x4. I've been a long time Jeeper, but this is my first Comanche. It's got a lot of work that needs done, including replacing the bed and doors, but the frame and drivetrain are solid. Going to be a very fun project to work on. It will be slow going due to limited funds at the moment, but I will start a build thread after I pick it up tomorrow. I look forward to learning as much as I can from y'all, and showing off the progress of my build!
mattbuch96 Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Welcome to the club Fellow Northeast Indiana jeeper!
FireMedic493 Posted November 11, 2016 Author Posted November 11, 2016 Well this just happened. The guy that I was gonna buy the Comanche from just up and backed out on the deal. Why do the Jeep gods hate me?? I've been searching for years for a decent one here up north, and I still haven't been able to get my hands on one! This stinks. I guess the search continues. If anyone has a lead on a decent 4x4 Comanche, preferably with the 4.0, anywhere in Indiana or the surrounding area, let me know. Guess I'll just have to keep admiring others builds until I can find my own.
mattbuch96 Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 That is terrible..... I'm sorry about your luck. I'll keep my eye out. . :MJ 1: .
Pete M Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 don't buy from around the rust belt. buy from out west or down south and then never let it touch winter. you'll have a truck for life
pitbull4x4 Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Hello from Decatur, Indiana There is a guy in town that has a Comanche for sale. It's a 2wd but from what I have seen it is clean and don't think it has any rust problems.
dragordie Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 It is good to see some comanches owners from Indiana. I myself live by South Bend. Sorry to here that your deal fell apart Firemedic 493. Hang in their It took me a couple years before finding and buying mine. <><
FireMedic493 Posted November 15, 2016 Author Posted November 15, 2016 Just a little update. Going Saturday to take a look at an 89 up in south bend. From all the pics I got, it seems to have minimal rust(heck, my 06 commander has more rust than this thing). It's pretty heavily modded already, but needs a little work to finish up. The biggest selling point is the axles. Built Dana 44 up front, and a built Dana 60 with a Detroit locker in the rear. Wish me luck!
Ωhm Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 We got a football game on Saturday, sure you don't want to wait. :laughin:
