TheOrangeMj
hey guys, I'm in florida and the hurricane is going to hit soon, i don't have access to a garage so i can't cover my jeep anywhere, i was wondering if you guys have any tips on how could i protect my manche in any way, i was thinking on filling the back up with sand and maybe create some weight or something, its my first hurricane and its pretty strong, where i live its predicted to be hit with up to 110 mph, apart from locking it in 4low what else should i do? Pete M
the winds aren't going to blow it away, that's more of a tornado thing. as I understand it, the biggest destroyers of vehicles in a hurricane are flooding and wind born objects.
gogmorgo
The best thing you can do is get it out of the path of the hurricane. Canada's nice this time of year. As someone with also absolutely no experience with hurricanes, from very indirect observation the worst damage to vehicles is due to flooding, so I would suggest seeking high ground. As far as getting hit by debris, parking near trees is probably a bad idea, or by any loose or otherwise weak structures (buildings, power poles, billboards etc). I'm thinking damage would be more likely from something falling on it than being hurled at it. But again I have no actual experience with hurricanes. outlaw star
don't feel bad Roro, we're being evacuated tomorrow by 10am. Going west to the Acreage. Just park it somewhere a tree won't fall on it or somewhere it doesnt flood. Good luck man. Sent from my SM-J700P using Tapatalk

johnj92131
The Comanche is just metal. Remember that. Take care of yourself and others first. Don't worry about the truck, except if it is your transportation to safety. Know your evacuation route. That is 2nd most important thing. Above is what I learned in 2003 massive fire here in San Diego CA. Killed 15 people who waited too long to evacuate. Don't wait to evacuate. Having worked here thru Katrina and the aftermath, there are several important things: Take your important papers, in a zip-lock AND inside a Tupperware container. Get the people out...and pets. Plan and re-check the route (remember the 6 P's) DON'T come back in until the authorities say so. It will be almost irresistible to do the "looky-see", but don't. You will just endanger yourself and put more of a burden on the first responders. There is no water, no food, scared and rabid animals, and looters. There is nothing you cannot replace except your life.
