  5. For what?? My 1989 jeep Comanche 4.0 ba 10/5 manual with a dana 30 in the front and dana 44 in the rear.
  6. I have seen a lot of talk about what brand fuel pump to buy.... I would like to no what everyone thinks about starters... Which brand is the best. I need a new. ANNNNNDDDD GO!!!
  7. I am following this post... I am also looking to build some rock sliders... I have looked at the xj ones and they all seem to bolt to the pinch weld and the frame...If anyone has some installed can we see pics please???
  8. also if you hit the part that holds the ball joint with a hammer every now and then it helps to push the ball joint out...... A little shock to the system helps.......
  9. brake fluid IS clutch fluid. Both are DOT3 from factory. Best to refill the clutch with DOT5 from what I understand so the master cylinder has no chance of ruining your block when it eventually starts leaking. My point was it was coming from the clutch not the brake.... members on this site from time to time take things literally. So its important to be specific with our information. They might look for the brake system leaking and not the clutch system.....thanks for the dot 5 info I might change my fluid to avoid future problems.
  10. I had the same problem with " brake fluid" however its not brake fluid its clutch fluid. That's why its not a problem with your automatic. If your truck is a manual I would suggest cleaning your fuse block. I cleaned mine and the radio started working...... And the 12v radio wire could be pink or red just depends on the year..... mine was pink in my 89 Comanche.
  11. thank you eagle... I pluged the bottom port in the block. Just like the thread in the DIY section said to do. I have added a 4.5 in lift to the truck so I eliminated the height sensing valve. The bed will be unloaded most of the time. And I live in las vegas so I don't think the road will be in a state were the rear wheels will lock up that much..... My next upgrade will be the double diaphragm brake booster up grade. I will try the xj valve at that time.
  12. The brakes on an MJ have been a point of contention on this forum for a while now. I have read every post on how to up grade them, bleed them and replace them..... This post has been the best so far for confusing me..... I have removed the height sensing valve and the line to it. I have place a plug in the block and I will be bleeding the brakes today or tomorrow..... But I still have not found an answer to one question I have. Why can't I just replace the distribution block on the MJ with a Propositioning valve from and XJ? Won't this give me the safety of having rear brakes if the front lines spring a leak? Or vise versa ?
  13. The carrier will have to come out. If you like new challenges and have money for the learning curve, you can rebuild it yourself. Otherwise, take the axle (or truck) to a competent shop. BTW, congrats! Its kinda like finding a unicorn!!!!
  14. this is a pic of it... its a dana 44..... now any advice on the rebuild please.....
  15. how do I put photos on here???? http://i.imgur.com/pB9Gd7l.jpg
  16. no tag... just the one that says limit slip fliud and I looked at pic of covers and Its a dana 44....
  17. I am in the middle of building a 1989 MJ. I bought two dana 30 steel diff covers. I put the front one on no problem. The back one just one little problem it is not a dana 30 its a dana 44!! Surprise!!! The tag on it says to use limited slip fluid. Does this mean its a trac lok??? Now the bad news there were pieces of metal in the diff. Looks like one of the plates behind the spider gear is broke. I can't get the pin out with out removing the ring gear so looks like the whole thing is coming out for a rebuild... Any advice???
  18. rocks and muriatic acid will clean the rust out... I ve used it on VW tanks before works great....
  19. I am updating lots of things on my Comanche. I would like to upgrade my front dana 30 axle u joints. Would should I buy? I don't want to put new axles in. I am just looking for info on u joints.....
  20. I am going to do the brake booster upgrade on my 1989 MJ. My question is.... If I am going to use a 95/96 booster and MC then why not get the Prop valve and use it too. I don't want the load sensing valve anymore. So why not use the prop valve and re plumb everything????
  21. there are several posting on how to do it in the DIY section.... look there for help....
  22. how about putting in a storage uint for now.....
  23. The advantage of the plasti dip is that you can peel it off and paint it again. So why is chipping a concern???
  24. you should check out rustys offroad.... they have lifts for comanches...
  25. have you looked into the duplicolor peel away paint??? I plan on painting my MJ with it. If it gets scratched I can peel it off and repaint the panel.....
