dustyinthedirt
I recently found that the block on one of my MJs is cracked!!!! :wall: I have been on CL everyday looked on a couple of pic a parts. I am finding that a block from the renix era is hard to find. I could have swore i have read on here or another forum about a putting a renix intake on a HO head. I don't really wanna change over but i am not able to find a engine. Could i bolt the renix head up to a later model block? or just my intake? Ive done went into crisis mode over this and asked the guys at the dodge place about it. Worthless!!!

Pete M
short answer is: yes. long answer is: I don't know all the details but I do know that it's been done before.
Rockfrog
Well I have an HO head on a Renix Block, so yes, they are compatible. Pretty much any block from an MJ/XJ will work all the way up to 2001 (1998 castings). Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
DirtyComanche
Yes. Better off swapping to the HO head and intake though. Just don't buy an engine with one of the later (junk) 0331 heads. Or you could be lazy and just bolt the Renix intake to the HO head. Just make sure you use the Renix gasket if you do that.
dustyinthedirt
Okay Thats what i was wondering. Thanks guys! I have 89 engine with a rod knock was running when pulled $50.00 in central pa. I would love to do that but you are 8 hours away just to PA. Yes. Better off swapping to the HO head and intake though. Just don't buy an engine with one of the later (junk) 0331 heads. Adapting the HO throttle body is the more better way. It's fairly well documented, you need to make some bits to adapt the TPS, you need a new throttle cable/bracket, and you need the fuel lines from the HO. That way you get a bigger throttle body, combined with the HO head you should make a noticeable amount more power.
Rockfrog
Easy enough the adapt the TPS to the HO throttle body. All sorts of well documented methods. I made my own adapter block and actuator. There is also another method that mounts the TPS on a bracket for similar effect. Sent from my SGH-I337M using Tapatalk
dustyinthedirt
I have read about switching to a HO block and just not having all the sensors. Just using the renix harness still. So you get a little bit more of the seat of a pants difference but still have the simplicity of the renix. Suggestions?

Suggestions?Really the only major improvement is the HO head, the blocks and what's inside are the same (literally up to around 92/93ish).
