akamcbird Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 trailer it behind a 4.0 ill be chopping my '86 any advice would be appreciated
ejndssn Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 u can sell it or swap the 2.8 for 3.1 or 3.4 out of one of the other gm products if you intend to get another one
akamcbird Posted July 9, 2007 Author Posted July 9, 2007 to much front end damage to the "frame" t-bone at 50mph but id still find it hard to endorse a chevy motor over the 4.0
ejndssn Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 yep :agree: with that... if you happened to obtain another you can get a better gm engine than the weak 2.8 or do like another member did here on site and made the 4.0 fit into 86 eng compartment.
rockhardzj Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 4.7 V8 out of a WJ, followed by a 545RFE, and a 231 sitting behind that. :D
Kenosha Warrior Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 track down a fooked Fullsize chero and take the 360/TH400 and the axles 'n'tcase and go nuts
pingpong Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 here is pretty much what you need even though Johnathan is going to keep the tranny http://mpjai.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6460
beaterjeep Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Just do what I'm going to do to mine. Get a TBI setup off of a mid to late 80's S-10 and swap it all over.
akamcbird Posted July 19, 2007 Author Posted July 19, 2007 your all missing the point, now i don't have to do any of that engine stuff plus hack and slash is always more fun.
beaterjeep Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Ah, yes. I get it now. Maybe I should have read the actual post and your sig better. As far as the hacking it up part, DirtyComanche and pingpong would be the people to ask about it. They both have a lot of practice and experience. :brows:

87manche Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 search on naxja for it, I saw a nicely done one that was painted to match the tow rig. it was a longbed trailer with a cap.
