Dogote
I've read up a little on swapping in later model stuff for more braking. I may do that since I noticed a big hole rusted in my booster. Has anyone just bought this set up: http://www.crownautomotive.net/product/RT31037.html If so, was it any good?
big66440
I really don't see what the advantage is over the more readily available and cheaper 95-96 XJ set up, I'm not trying to tell you how to spend your money on your vehicle but I have the 95-96 XJ set up with steel braided brake lines http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rus-694850 and my MJ's brakes are better than some newer cars, as an added bonus there's tons of info and support on this swap. To each his own though I'm just throwing in my 2 pennies worth.
benjy_26
How much is the Crown conversion, and is it a drop in for our trucks?

xjrev10
96 or newer XJ or WJ master booster is the most economical. Great write up on here for the WJ one.
Limeyjeeper
It is gulp $386.86 on Amazon. A master cylinder is around $50 on RockAuto and the Booster is $70 for the later Cherokee
Minuit
Or you could pay about $30-50 at a junkyard for a 95/96 XJ unit. And then it'll be a real OEM part, not aftermarket crap.

xjrev10
Which MC is being used? For which one? 95-96 XJ and WJs I've always used them as a unit.

xjrev10
Crown? I'm missing your question I guess. Crown is a manufacture of parts for Jeeps of all vintage.. I'd never spend that much on a setup.. I probably have $350 in my complete brake system on my truck including slotted rotors, new calipers, hoses etc.

The other options above are listed. 95-96 XJ is bolt in. WJ stuff takes a little extra effort. Both the options I listed can be done for less then $100. So...just to be sure: I can take a '95 MC and booster and bolt it into my '87 with no other mods?
xjrev10
Correct. The problem with others is your brake light switch and you must modify the firewall. (With a hammer just like any other jeep mod) I have a WJ master/booster and did NOT swap out the prop valve. I eliminated the load sensing valve and plugged the hole for it on the prop valve. With rear discs, my truck stops perfect.
