Manual window regulator price!!

I did a search for MJ and XJ manual window regulators and the only ones I found were $200+ each. Now I know I could just find some Cherokee doors but most of them have the same problem as I do. I roll my window down past about the 50% mark and then the window won't roll back up. Something inside the regulator is stripped out. Please tell me I can get new regulators for less than $200. Buying two of them is just crazy at that price.

I have a similar problem with both of my windows. I have seen Dorman window regulator tape, part number 74413, on Autozone.com. I have been thinking about giving it a shot since it is priced at $15. Something for you to consider. Hopefully someone will chime in if they have tried it.

Oops, my bad the regulators are $110 each. I tried searching as many ways as I could but manual window regulators just seem to be hard to find. You can buy power regulators for $60-90 but no manual. I guess I'm just going to spring for the ones from Mopar Parts Overstock.

my passanger window is like that but more around 75% down. ive opted to just swap doors with a '97 and fix the issue and get a full window

If my truck was a color that I could find easy then I would. Plus I need both doors and I don't want to have to try and paint the doors to match.

not sure how true or easy it is.... I herd you can swap the internals from new to old style. while keeping your shell. so youd swap the window, regulator and seals. id try a search around here for that. as another option.

Self service junkyards in my area charge about $15 a piece for them. Just find an XJ in the yard that has smooth window movement. As long as the window moves easily in both directions the regulator still has plenty of life left in it. Later (~94 and later I believe) use bolted in regulators rather than riveted in. On your MJ you'll need to drill I believe 6 rivets to get the regulator out. I pulled a pair of regulators from a '96 XJ and my windows work great now. Hardest part is getting the glass separated from the regulator.

I also pulled a replacement from a junkyard Cherokee.  I wonder if fronts interchange with rears?  Then one XJ could get you 4.  Depending on how close a pic-n-pull is to you, this is the best option.  I would suggest pulling one of yours as a test run to know exactly what tools to bring.  You will need a battery powered electric drill to get the rivets out on earlier trucks as mentioned above.  I did mine a couple years ago and don't remember what all was involved.

 

Another option would be converting to electric, I haven't researched it but I suspect it would be a major thing to retrofit all the wiring.

 

Manual regulators slipped of my radar, I will be keeping my eyes peeled on future trips to the pic-n-pulls.

Nobody has found a source for a decent price?  I actually stripped the power windows out because I prefer manual, unfortunately my donor door had a bad one...  Last time I hit the junkyard here they were all stripped.  They had lots of the new (97+) style ones though...

I've gotten lucky and gotten some at local JY's as well, take a drill with a 3/8 bit a few punches for the rivets, BFH and an adjustable wrench for the nut holding the regulator to the glass. You'll get so good after the first window the second one will be a breeze, BTW you can use 1/4x20 nuts and bolts in place of rivets.
