Tom_Comanche_G
i am trying to achieve a non tapered comanche with s.o.a. the way i bought my comanche was with a 4.5" lift spring under axel and now going ontop makes it way to big. Changing the shackle to an stock xj one does not help either. I think i need to find a stock comanche leaf spring? Any info would be much appreciated and possibly the whereabouts of finding stock comanche leaf springs in the vancouver area.

Pete M
I believe he means he wants a level truck rather than a raked look. HellCreek and General Spring make new ones. car-part.com can help find old ones in junkyards.
mikekaz1
why even bother going SOA if you don't want it bigger then it already is? seems like wasted cost to me,,,,
87mjdriver
I just bought a set of stock springs from General spring. Super fast delivery. good quality good price. What height are you shooting for? pay attention to how tall your new spring perches are, I didn't and got some that are a bit taller than stock type and my SOA came out to 8 inches. mikekaz1
semi off topic... but what is the benefit of spring over anyways? other then ground clearance?
Pete M
staying SUA maxes out at around 4.5" of lift so if you want anything more, you really only have one choice.
mikekaz1
Ah OK. So there's no true(performance) benefit or gain? It just allows a higher lift ability.
gogmorgo
There is still an improvement in ground clearance over stock. Moving the axle to the other side of the springs also means the spring plate moves above the axle, so all you have below it is the u-bolts. Incommando
As mentioned it helps because it moves stuff that will get hung up on things above the axle. It also allows you to use flatter leafs then what would be needed from a SUA to get the same lift. High arches take away from flex.
89eliminator
Ah OK. So there's no true(performance) benefit or gain? It just allows a higher lift ability. false. getting to use the stock leaf packs results in a smoother ride and better off road performance. the flatter the leaf pack arch, they better. there is a drawback though, and that is a greater chance for axle wrap. when i was still on leaf springs, i had to fab a traction bar because my axle wrap was so bad.
