Gene Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Hi everyone, Which antifreeze do you run? Prestone universal? Old style green? Or other? If old style green, where do you get it? Thanks! Gene
Strokermjcomanche Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Green . Any parts store should carry it .
87Warrior Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 I run Zerex GO5 in my Jeeps. It is equivalent to the extended life coolant found in factory fills from Mopar. I'd rather have a 5 year coolant fill than the basic green that is only a 2 year coolant.
gogmorgo Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Good old EG mixed 2:1 with distilled water. Don't always want to pay the extra for a name brand for one reason or another, but usually I get Prestone. 2:1 keeps it liquid down below -45, which is necessary in my climate. Haven't noticed any problems running that blend in the summer, but if it didn't get so cold, I'd mix it 1:1. As for not wanting to change coolant every two years, so far I've found some reason to have to dump it every year or so anyhow...
91Pioneer Posted January 11, 2016 Posted January 11, 2016 Considering my coolant system was neglected for a couple of decades, I put in green stuff and mixed it to be good down to about -50C. I won't have my truck by the time it's due for it's next change anyway.
mikekaz1 Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 I run whatever's on the shelf for the cheapest price. I always end up blowing something so I end up doing a forced change every year or so anyways
Minuit Posted January 15, 2016 Posted January 15, 2016 Green stuff. Our trucks aren't picky. I usually run the stuff O'reilly Auto Parts sells since they're closest to my house but they're all pretty much the same.
