schardein
I guess this may be more of a "cherokee" question... I swapped in a woodgrain dash panel to my burgundy interior Comanche. I've seen these woodgrain dash panels in Cherokees with the "Country" package, and XJ Wagoneers. These Jeeps also have woodgrain trim on the door panels. I've only seen this in tan and gray interiors. So my questions, did Comanches ever have the woodgrain interior option? And has anyone ever seen burgundy door panels with the woodgrain trim? Strokermjcomanche
Never seen wood grain factory on a Comanche . There is a 89 wagoneer down the road from me with the lighter wood grain burgundy door panels .
1987Comanche
I've seen a few XJ Waggys with the light wood grain on burgundy door panels. I haven't seen any XJ Country packages with burgundy door panels and wood grain. Doesn't mean they don't exist but it would be more rare than the XJ "System Sentry" (saw one of these in the jy & it was pretty cool). FYI there are 3 wood grain dash bezels that I'm aware of: -Light grain on the XJ Waggys (my personal preference. Had one in Maura and have one in Georgia) -Dark grain on the XJ Country (non-airbag. Has smaller cutout for steering column). -Dark grain on XJ Country (airbag column. Will fit non-airbag vehicles but has a gap between bezel and column). gogmorgo
I suppose a bit could have happened since then, given age, but the wood-grained dash bezel I pulled from an '86 waggy with a tan interior at a jy is a perfect match for the wood grain on the grey door panels from the '93 country I picked up this summer. Not that this answers the op's question at all...
schardein
Thanks for the replies. I have seen the different woodgrain "colors". I once owned an 89 XJ Wagoneer (Black/woodgrain sides, tan/wood interior). It's what started my love affair with the XJ/MJ platform. This was before digital pictures, I'll have to see if I can find some old photos.

87MJTIM
Pulled from a 93 XJ. It has a tan/beige interior with the wood grain door panels. Unfortunately, the doors are manual windows and lock, not electric. I cannot use them.

87MJTIM
got any pics of the door panels ? Not currently. The XJ is parked at a mechanics shop (who signed it over to me). I will be back there in approx. 2 weeks.
gogmorgo
I used the electric window panels with my crank window doors, just cut a small hole in the panel for the winder. The trim and everything from my old winders worked great, and covered up any rough edges. I'm a few days away from my MJ, but I'll post up pics when I get home if you want. gogmorgo
Picture time. The wood grain dash, which in hindsight I'm not 100% certain came from a waggy, but it was a few years ago that I pulled it at a yard. But it matches the door panels. There were matching panels in the XJ I got it from, but didn't get them because they were tan, not grey. The power-window door panel from the XJ Country on my manual-window door. And a close-up of where the winder pokes through the panel. I put a dab of grease on the winder shaft to mark where it hit the panel when I put it back on, and used a sharp utility knife to cut out a roughly 1/2 to 3/4" circle centred on the mark.
