jbuds690 Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 So my old pump was wobbling and went on my way home just put a new one in and I can only get a half spin out of it. Wasn't sure if anyone has any decent ideas to help. No I'm not a matter mechanic but I know my way around so please no smart assing. Its 87 with the 4.0
Strokermjcomanche Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 There should be A slight drag . If it seems excessive go compare it with another one from the parts store .
jbuds690 Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 No drag just completely stops it's brand new
Strokermjcomanche Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 It seems like one of the fins may have gotten bent and is hitting the housing , or a bad bearing . Another thing I would check is that the pulley and or pulley bolts aren't making contact with anything .
HOrnbrod Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 Did you check for free spin before installing it?
jbuds690 Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 Thanks I'll have to take a look when I get there I still gotta take it back off it was getting dark yesterday and it's not at the easiest place for me to work on
jbuds690 Posted October 23, 2015 Author Posted October 23, 2015 Both ran a small bead of rtv on the cardboardish gasket
yxmj Posted October 23, 2015 Posted October 23, 2015 It is going to have to come off.....dry fit it this time when you put it on (no rtv or gasket) finger tighten the bolts and spin it from time to time until you feel it starting to jamb on something...twist it gently back and forth a couple of times and then take it off...maybe you can see were it is rubbing. And with all do repect.....it is the correct pump..... . :MJ 1: . ....right?

metrictonner Posted October 24, 2015 Posted October 24, 2015 The pipe that screws into the right side of the water pump goes right down to the blades. Did something fall down into it?
