wutangwisdom
Planning on replacing my pcv valve/ front and back vacuum harnesses since i looked down the hoses with a flashlight and its caked with oil front and back harness both. I have read its smarter to just take the whole valve cover off to do this repair. I'm planning on doing that as plan B. does the pcv thread in? Or is it pressed into the gromet. sorry for another noob DIY I have read up on it and looking at the replacement pcv valve I just can't picture how it is installed. Metal end inside the valve cover plastic part connects to the vacuum. Is there a certan direction the metal part should be facing while its installed ( facing the firewall or facing the front doesnt matter?) Sorry for the noob question just having trouble finding a little more detailed write up, besides cruisers
Strokermjcomanche
Get yourself a Haynes / chilton or full service manual (FSM ) , a very good investment and you don't have to wait on answers .

Rockfrog
IIRC ... You have a Renix, the rear nipple/hose assemvly simply pops out. Careful not to snap it. The front one is a molded part of the front Vacuum harness. If you take the valve cover from a later model motor and swap that on ... you upgrade to the later style CCV which was less clog prone (due to larger orifice and hose size). The 96 and later valve covers used the least problematic style with parts still readily available cheaply. Search here for 'Vacuum Harness' and it should bring up a series of Dorman part numbers to order to replace the complete Vacuum Harness/CCV system. A further bit of searching will also net some actual CCV to PCV conversions as well, simple, but no more effective as they both do essentially the same thing.
