Incommando Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 What have some of you done to secure your hoods? My preference would be for something I could only use when I wanted to. Even a good way to route a chain/cable & padlock would be appreciated. In the same vein these things are really easy to steal with a flat blade screw driver and 45 seconds. I have a large on/off battery switch from one of my old bracket race cars that I can remove the handle from the actual switch. Unless someone else has a good idea I was going to mount it inline between the starter and the battery as I have the parts to do it on hand. Thanks
shelbyluvv Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Kill switch to the ground behind the tail light, kill switch on the coil hot wire, kill switch on the starter feed wire.
relyt120 Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 You could easily put a kill switch the ground to the starter relay. Its easy to find and labeled on the relay.
Blue XJ Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Put a switch on the ground from the NSS, won't crank if there is no ground.
jimoshel Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 The first thing a thief looks for if the starter doesn't work is a anti-theft device of some sort. Better to have the starter engage but not let the engine start. I have mine rigged up so that I have to hold the cigar lighter in or it won't start.

But can you still use the cigar lighter to light your cigars? These are important questions
jimoshel Posted June 1, 2015 Posted June 1, 2015 Yes. But only if the engine is running or has been cycled.
Incommando Posted June 1, 2015 Author Posted June 1, 2015 Good suggestions. Thanks folks. Unfortunately it is getting to the point that mods like a winch,etc.... Really turn your vehicle into a target

Really turn your vehicle into a target Or you could move to Montana, I rarely take the keys out of the ignition at home, we never lock the front door... OH wait! what am I saying? Montana sucks! Don't come here!, there is too much blue sky and wide open places, thousands of miles of open forest...

I usually install a fairly simple relay or interrupt switch on the ignition or fuel pump (or both). Works like a charm, and it will do a far better job of making the thief give up instead of hunting for a theft system. (POS Truck vs. Protected truck)
