Lee21490
So i'm 6'4~, And my stock seats on my 'manche are pretty worn out. So i'm going to run to the pick'n'pull & grab some newer replacement seats. Question is... I want something a little more comfortable/nicer looking than the mj buckets. But i'm worried about the seat being too tall, I know some of the xj seats boost the height a few inches.. Anyone know of good seats to swap in, That keep about the same seat height overall?
Megadan
Fellow sasquatch here (6'5''). From what I understand the 2 door XJ seat brackets are more or less the same. My seats are gross, broken, and worn out, and if I can find a decent set I plan on installing them and seeing how they feel.
xmeatbagx
I'm also fairly tall (6'2"). In my truck I want to keep the 3rd person option but want an arm rest also. I just picked these up from work today. They're out of a newer Ranger. I'm not positive on how mounting them to my bench seat bracket is gonna go but I'm gonna give it a shot.
Wiggilez
unless you're set on buckets i've read on here that dakota benches will bolt/fit in our trucks.

Dadinator
Check my build thread. Dakota split buckets. Love them. The way i did my brackets made them sit higher. Probably too high for u. But you could most likely make them shorter if you are good at fab.
glundblad
As you already know, if you take the top part of the xj bracket and combine it with the bottom part of the MJ bracket, they bolt right in at about the same height. Where you get into trouble is there were certain seat brackets off the XJ that lifted the seat higher considerably higher than stock. I think they reclined or something like that. You would want to stay away from those.

You would want to stay away from those. The XJ seats that cause the problems with height are the ones from the late 80s models that had the "rocking chair" seat cusion adjustment as well as the standard recliner in the seat back. The rocking chair mechanism adds a layer of hardware that in the XJ required a lower seat pedestal to compensate. There is no lower pedestal for the MJ. Find XJ buckets that don't have the rocking chair feature and you should be okay.
johnj92131
Take a look at Grand Cherokee seats. With some flat stock, a grinder, and some bolts, you can fit them. They seem to be the same height as the stock MJ buckets in my 1991. Maybe just a touch lower. I like them in my truck. No more sore back.
shelbyluvv
I was going to suggest the ZJ seats that I have. They are like sitting in a La-Z-boy. I used 97+ XJ floor braces to install them though. If you want to fab them in there is no other seat I will ever use in any MJ that will be a driven daily.
