88mjblue
I'm looking for a device or something that can give me the following readouts: - ambient temperature - altitude - compass - inclinometer I'm sure something like this is out there, but I don't know what to search for, or what it's called. Preferably I could integrate it into the dash somewhere, but I'm also open to the kind that mounts on the windshield.
HOrnbrod
Overhead ZJ (or similar) mini-console.
yxmj
I have one in a XJ Only has 2 of what you are requesting...temp and direction For the other two you would have to go by old school rules..... 1) If the water in you boot is salty......your at sea level 2) if the blades of grass are pointing down.....your on your roof... . :MJ 1: . gogmorgo
You can get a rear-view mirror with the temp and compass built in. GM late 90's or 2000's non-OnStar vehicles would be one source. Or an old-school floating ball compass would get you direction and inclination.
johnj92131
Don, Notice the Grand Cherokee mini console shows mpg. Am I correct to "assume" that requires an OBDII engine management system to display mpg? Or can it still read mpg with the 91+ OBDI ecu in our Comanche? I have actually been eying the GC mini-console as an addition to my Comanche. I know it could do the outside temperature, but did not know much else other than the extra lights. Know anyone who has put the mini-console in an XJ or an MJ?
yxmj
The mini console is a factory option in an XJ (I do not know what years....I have 2 both in 1998s) The funniest thing that has always stuck me....it shows the mileage/ direction/temp....and even has a trip duration timer.......but you can't make it display time like a clock :hmm: If you happen to find one you would need the harness that runs down the passenger side window pillar and the temp sender from behind the rad....I would also strongly assume that it would need to be OBDII

Makes me want to order one and install in in the dash some where. I bet if you took your time you could install it with a nice clean factory look in the right spot. Would just need to make some sort of bezzel. which wouldnt be very hard.
yxmj
Getting back to the original XJ overhead console....It has the same drop down sun glass holder as they use in the ad....so you could have a factory jeep console with that added in  Image Not Found
Zebvance
SO after finding this for the OP, http://store.camerontech.io/products/offroad-cpu and looking at about 100 times over the past couple months I'm coming to the point where its getting hard and harder to talk myself out of it. I know it doesn't have much practical use but I just think it is to cool. I think I'm going to pull the trigger on it tonight.

Zebvance
This link Should work: http://store.camerontech.io/products/offroad-cpu I went ahead and ordered one. I contacted the guy that makes them and asked if there was a way incorporate a compass into it also. He said there is already one built in but it interferes to much with the other components on the board so it is just not activated. I will be posting a update when I get this in and install it. I have some Ideas for install location but I have to wait till more stuff I ordered comes in to see if it will really work or not.

Zebvance
my plan is to put a gauge/switch panel there and try to incorporate it in it if there is enough room.
Zebvance
Well I received the Offroad CPU from Camerontech today. Super cool! I have been playing with it for the past hour. Kinda wishing I didn't get the read one now though. Not as bright as I was hoping but then again I haven't seen it at night yet. I hope to install is soon. Zebvance
Well Its time I give an update on this. I went ahead and ordered Prime 4x4s switch panel that goes in the place where the clock does. My plan was to cut out a rectangle where the switches are and mount the Camron Cpu there. Well when I got it in I knew that it wouldn’t work. The screen was too big. So I just mounted my rpm gauge in it and threw some switches in it that I know I will need in the future anyway. So then I ordered dirtbound offroads switch panel that goes where the little coin tray is under the ash tray. As I already had their ashtray switch panel I figured it would match nicely. However I ordered the panel blank with no holes so I could mount it how I pleased. I also mounted a digital volt meter beside it. I wasn’t the best at cutting out straight clean holes to mount them so I just cut some black vinyl to stick on it and clean it up. I would like to make some sort of bezel for it in the future so it looks cleaner. Unless someone knows of one that is already made for this pretty common LED screen. As for my experience with it: Where it is located I have it reading temp’s as high as 120 degrees running down the highway. I’m guessing all the heat something from the tunnel. Also, I got the red led screen, which I’m not very happy with it. It is not very bright. I wish I would have got the white Led. Other than that it is working nicely. Here are the pictures.
