pitbull4x4
I have a 89 Comanche, 4.0 , auto , 2wd. Going to do 4WD swap and found a guy with a 99 Cherokee, 4.0, auto, 4wd with a 231 or 232 T-Case wanting to know if this T-Case will work
Incommando
the tranny/t-case combo should bolt up. You have to change to a 4wd tranny when you go to 4wd.
yxmj
If I remember right you will have to play some games with your speedo it might be different EDIT....yes it changed http://www.novak-adapt.com/knowledge/np231.htm

pitbull4x4
Thanks for the posting ggcnash. After reading it looks like going to find one for years 87-90.
Blue XJ
I have an AW4 from a 4x4 90 sitting on my garage floor. Has the torque converter and flex plate as well. I took it out to swap for a manual. I had it rebuilt a while ago, but I bet it has less than 20k miles on it. If you have a way to pick it up from south east Michigan, I'll make you a great deal on it. I reused the t-case though, so I don't have that. pitbull4x4
Blue XJ, yes I'm interested in the transmission. I live just south of Fort Wayne, In. Any idea what you want for it ?
Blue XJ
It's yours, just give it a good home, don't worry about the money. I've had it listed locally for a while with no interested. I'm glad to give it to someone who can use it, instead of scrapping it.
Strokermjcomanche
If this falls through , can I be next in line? I'm in northeast ohio . Thanks Bluexj .
Rockfrog
To revisit the speedo question .. The earlier speedo setup will swap into the later model case ... The gear shafts may have changed but that was to do with the sensor itself. The actual gears are the same going back into the 60's ... The long shaft gears index the same as the short shaft gears at the output shaft.

Now saying that the obd2 aw4 can be used just more work and little more know how.
Blue XJ
That's fine with me, you two can work it out and let me know. I'll trade either of you my transmission for a bottle of Jack!
Blue XJ
Either of you guys still want the trans? It's getting moved closer and closer to the curb each week.
