nitroxsteve Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I am thinking about swapping my 5spd for an auto and was wondering if the floor shifter from a XJ would work with the mini console? I would prefer to put the shifter on the steering column but not sure how easy it will be to find a new column. Will any other steering columns work other than from a MJ?
az comanches Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I'm planning on doing the same swap on my 88, from what I've been told the columns in our trucks are the same as GM columns. I would think S-10, someone correct me if I'm wrong.
onlyinajeep726 Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 As far as your first question, yes, you can use the AW4 floor shifter in conjunction with your mini console.

Strokermjcomanche Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 They are both Saginaw columns but the mounts may be different .
ggcnash Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 Helped my pops rebuild his column with one from s10 can't remember year something he rounded up,but as stroker stated the attachment points were different on that particular year we used but the parts were interchangeable. Saying all that i think there are some specific years that are direct replacements, try searching google I wanna say I saw a writeup on naxja. Good luck

Jeep Driver Posted January 3, 2015 Posted January 3, 2015 I used a Hurst shifter in the past but you can probably pick up a used B&M floor shifter cheap and make up your own cable. I wouldn't bother with a column shifter but that's me.
Steve Gregory Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I had a column shift, but he column broke so i converted it to a floor shift, and it works great.
