Looking for a bored renix throttle body

Recommended Posts

You don't wanna hear my butt dyno, let alone smell it.

That said, I would venture to say the Renix has the most to gain as it goes from 52mm to 60mm versus 58mm to 60mm or 62mm for an HO.

Correct on both points, especially the first one.

If I could post a video for you, I would........

you have to have a Cat by law

Under what jurisdiction does that law fall under, state, federal?  :hmm:   I recently discovered that my cat is hollow, but i live in an area with no emissions, soooooo . . . .  :dunno:

Federal. EPA to be exact.

Communicated with Jeff Leigh of www.strokedjeep.com this morning.

He still does the Renix throttle bodies but has none in stock to ship right now. 2 week to a month wait.

These are the emails I got from him when I got in contact. He didn't seem like he was interested in doing them at all.

you have to have a Cat by law

In TX, it depends on the year of the vehicle. My 87 needs no cat to pass safety and emiasions.

On the subject of a bored out TB making a difference, if you have a high flowing exhaust, intake, and injectors, it'll give you a bit more power in the high RPM range. If you have a bigger cam and better flowing intake and head, it really pays off. If you're bone stock, I suspect just cleaning your old one will have the same effect.

benjy, you just hit a nerve. A pet peeve I have been having increasingly lately on forums. Don't take this personally, but I've got to vent.

Your suspicion is wrong.

Why is it that those of you who HAVEN'T done something are telling us that HAVE done something, that it doesn't work the way we have experienced by DOING it?

Any of you Renix guys do a before and after dyno run with these bored throttle bodies? If not, it's just wishful thinking from your butt-dyno mistaking better throttle response with more power. But that's cool - I like more sensitive throttle response too.
