Looking for a bored renix throttle body

Looking for a bored renix throttle body for my 88 4.0 mj. Got in contact with the guy from stroked jeeps but he is not doing them anymore. Does anybody else know anybody selling them for a reasonable price? under $300?

 

Also for those who have one what were your results? Noticeable gains? If so where were the gains noticeable, throttle response, Power?

Very reasonable price if a core is sent back to him. I haven't personally ordered one yet, but I will be soon.

I have personally ordered from leigh and can give a good report. I ordered one of his 62mm HO units and currently run it on my rig. From what i can remember shipping time was reasonable. I think i had to send the core in before he sent the product, but i can't remember, its been awhile. Another thing, he guarantees his TBs never to whistle, apparently its very common for bored out TB to whistle. Mine does and did from the start. However, it is a very narrow window. Yes it is loud and annoying when it whistles, but its such a small window that i can usually avoid it without much effort. I did consider sending it back for exhange, but i needed the truck to get to work, i didnt really follow his recommended install procedure, and it didnt bother me all that much, so i said screw it and left it alone.

Thanks for the feed back but as I stated earlier Leigh at stroked Jeeps is not making them any more. I am looking for somebody besides him that I can get one from.

is it a renix throttle body or newer. The renix 4.0 was in years 87-90... I have never seen anybody bore a renix throttle body bigger than 60mm, so I'm guessing you are looking at the ones for the H.O. 4.0s which were years 91+

I also bought a bored renix TB from leigh, mine whistles to but like previously stated "you can work with it" it does it in a VERY narrow RPM range , I didnt notice a big difference until I made a cold air intake and installed  the 4 hole injectors, I'm sure once I install my magnaflow muffler and 7120 head it'll really pay off to have the bigger throttle plate, in a nutshell I'd recommend it if your planning on other upgrades down the road.

I have already done the injector upgrade, pacesetter header, 2.5 inch exhaust, high flow cat, magnaflow muffler, and I have a snorkel if you want to count that as a cold air intake

I plan on upgrading the TB, the injectors, and replacing the exhaust. would I be better off deleting the cat and doing a high flow muffler? Or doing a high flow cat and muffler? I'm looking for MPGs but not making it too loud

i did mine with a drum sander on an extra i had laying around cleaned and polished it too there was a write up on it i think i had 15 bucks in it with gasket carb cleaner and the sander go slow and take your time. ill look for the link

where did you get the bigger butterfly from and how on earth did you do that with a drum sander??????

don't need a bigger butterfly your only really knocking the taper out of it i think it 58mm . don't quote me on it but i know ive done it. if you look at the renix tb it has a taper at the bottom. also pulling the silencing cone out of the stock air box helps too

He still does the Renix throttle bodies but has none in stock to ship right now. 2 week to a month wait.

I suppose i spoke a little bit hasty, since my engine is pretty modified already.

 

But even with the mods, i did notice a crisper throttle response and maybe a bit of acceleration.  No, i don't have hard numbers to back this up, only my tried and (sometimes) true butt dyno.

 

You can't deny the factory renix TB is a significant choke point. ;)

Pleasantly tickled?  :rotfl2:   I'm sure the butt dyno in your case is highly developed, but it was fooled by better throttle response. That's all that happens on a NA system until the increased suckage from the bored TB is balanced by increased blowage in the exhaust system. Only a real dyno run can tell you that.

 

I've tried several different performance mods over the years and according to my butt dyno, all were an improvement. But when I dragged it down to Hesco for a real dyno run, some mods showed little or no gains. The olde butt dyno tells you what you want to hear.

 

Unfortunately I quit having dyno runs a couple of years ago because hearing the engine screaming at 6K+ RPMs made me too damn nervous. Now I rely 100% on the butt dyno too and hear what I want to hear.  :yes:

That said, I would venture to say the Renix has the most to gain as it goes from 52mm to 60mm versus 58mm to 60mm or 62mm for an HO.
