That is a neat piece. I wonder how much fun it was to drive, though? A '78 Toy probably made about 60 h.p....

I'm hoping it'll be really fun to drive! And this truck has a 22r out of a few years newer truck and it's got 95hp!

How long is the camper unit at the base?  Any idea how wide is is?  This should be interesting!  Lots more power than the 4 cyilinder Toyota and should be a stronger truck.

I havent done any measuring yet. Got other projects still going on like the body work on my Cummins mj and brakes and making a hitch for the j10 plus a 4x4 swap on my bro in laws mj. So it'll be a bit.... It'll be way better off on a comanche anyways!

Did some ROUGH measuring while I was waiting for the gas to siphon out of the tank...

Bottom of cab to top of cab- 47" both trucks

Back of cab to front of camper...29" about 3" to windshield mj- 29" left about 2" to windshield

Back of cab to center of wheel/wheel well...toyota-45" mj-39"

Frame Width is 2" wider for the mj but the camper mounts on the outside width of the Toyota frame so I think it's good there.

so would this mean I need a lwb for the swap? We've never had a lwb suprisingly.

I wish some one would Photo Shop a Comanche onto that camper.

yes! somebody get on it! i know theres some talented photoshoppers on here!

couple weekends ago we dropped the fuel tank and painted it and cleaned it out really well and replaced the fuel pump. replaced a couple fuel lines and fired it up. ran wide open until we unhooked the gas pedal linkage. pedal "hinge" was rusted up on the floorboard of the cab so we just broke it off and used the linkage in the cab as the pedal now. had to replace the master and slave cylinder and we got to drive it! its a turd! doesnt handle too bad down the road. runs pretty well now. still needs more tuning up but itll be awhile since were about ready to start body work on the cummins MJ! the power inverter and all the lights in the camper work. couldnt get the sink to pump water from the tank but thats way down on the list.

20 minute 'Shop of the day coming right up!

I know the proportions are a bit off but this is what a longbed MJ with a camper might look like. Pic is some 86 I found on the internet. With some time I could make it better, but I have class soon :fs1:

That looks pretty good. Good enough to get a damn good idea of it!

Just looked at it, the frame of the Toyota is just as long in the rear of the axle is just as long as in front of the axle (just by eyeballing it) and then the bumper extensions are like 3 foot long or longer so it just looks weird because the camper is longer behind the axle than in front.
