my buddys F-150 has a pretty cool 4x4 shifter

I'm wondering what i have to do to my t-case to make it go from lever style to the old school lookin straight up and down shifter with the L shift

I'm trying to get my pic of it up soon as i can get it on my computer ill post it

You'd probably just need to flip the bracket on the case 90 degrees. And just fab up your own connection. I've heard of people using S10 shifters i don't know how they look though

Get linkage, brackets and shifter off of a TJ or YJ.....the bottom end will bolt up perfect and you just have to work out some kind of "Boot"

Go YJ then.........if you have some skillz you might even save some $$$$ by fabing yourself

This is what I'm talking about! i want to know how to make my mj shifter look like/function like this

The MJ shifter does function like that. The only difference is that where the shifter enters the passenger compartment the MJ version bends 90* forward to be less intrusive. Eliminate the bend ( cut and weld?) and have the rod stick straight up and there ya go. Same pattern and all. Might hit a bench seat in 4lo though.

Someone in the 'build' forum did just that.

He used a Honda shaft as the thread one on the shaft was the same as the ball he used, looked good.

Does it place it in the same position as the MJ at the tunnel?

Tt would bolt right up to the T/case and all brackets and linkage wold be readily available.......the tunnel of a  MJ and a YJ would obviously be different....but I think it would be close enough that your fab requirements would be limited.....your shift boot would cover any trimming needed
