This morning at church my bride missed a step and fell, striking her head against a door. She has arthritis in her neck (and most other joints) and had surgery two years ago to prevent permanent nerve damage and relieve severe nerve pain. This is one tough lady who has been through two knee replacements (both at the same time), a hip replacement, and 2 months ago a shoulder replacement.

After a paramedic transport to the ER and a cat scan, the neurosurgeon sent us home with a fractured vertebra and a hard cervical collar. Follow-up visit in 2 weeks to see what Step 2 is.

I don't know about other people's relationships but I can tell you that having been in love with this woman for over 50 years and seeing her fall as she did, I was afraid that the most important part of my life was over. I thank God for giving us more time together in this life.

If you have a woman you love make sure she knows it.

If you don't have a woman you love, you're missing the best part of life.

Since I am one of the young bucks here, I don't have many years behind my marriage. But I do know that feeling and thank God everyday for the time we have together. Glad it was only a scare!

Glad she is okay, but i am afraid i won't be able to relate as well as others.

she sounds like an awesome woman and this sounds like a great love.  those surgeries must be tough to go through, - it sounds like your relationship makes it easier for her to keep her chin up.  here's wishing for a good recovery.   :)

ftpiercecracker1 - you can change that status, brother. There's someone out there for you, just gotta find them.

Don - Yes, her mobility is normally very good. She just missed a step between levels in the audio/visual booth where I was working. I've stumbled down it before myself. Just one of those moments of inattention at a busy time. The knees and hip eliminated the associated pain and gave her back the ability to do normal activities around the house, go shopping, take long walks on the beach, etc. We're hoping, based on the neuro's diagnosis, that this will just be a bump in the road.

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts and a prayer for a complete recovery will be greatly appreciated.

I feel for you, Bro.

It took me until age 59 to find my true partner. We had only ten years together before she was taken from me in January. You are blessed to still have your "better half."
